@BadFilmTakes1 It's so amazing that, in a story with no supernatural organic element, it still makes the body's processes so terrifying and strange. I think this one is more honest and direct than something like The Brood because it's exactly the way I think Cronenberg experiences the world.
@BadFilmTakes1 Besides, art isn't about finding The Best. It's about exploring your own deeply weird pathology and what types of freaks you need to be connecting with.
@BadFilmTakes1 If you ONLY watch great movies, then you'll never get to truly consider whether you believe what you're watching is good. And, even worse, you won't have a list of controversial faves to argue about! (BATMAN & ROBIN is great, actually)
This movie unironically whips because instead of trying to be a gritty recreation of 90s hacking, it now serves as a time capsule to an almost magical techno-fantasy of pre Y2K cyber-optimism.
A beautiful cyberpunk escapism bedtime story compared to the world we got.
@BadFilmTakes1 Unless you're intentionally gearing up for it, I recommend waiting on THE DEVILS for the re-release in October. ALTERED STATES would work well as a Russell replacement, too.
