What happened to MP Salma Zahid and her family is deeply disturbing. My thoughts are with them, and I am relieved to hear that they are safe.

There must be no place in Canada for Islamophobia, hatred, intimidation, or violence directed at people because of their faith, identity, or differences.

Canada’s strength has always been our ability to live together despite our differences — with mutual respect, tolerance, and dignity. These values should never be taken for granted. We must protect them and stand firmly against those who seek to replace dialogue with hatred and intimidation.
