Our hearts are too fickle for us not to be found in the place of prayer. Many times, besetting sins persist not because of their allure and false comforts, but because our communion with God in prayer is too neglected and loose to drown out the affections of our sinful passions. If we do not know the superior joys of prayer, we will not know pleasures that surpass our sins.
