Made with Claude Opus 5.5.
The fearmongering about AI always makes us forget that NOTHING WENT FOOM, as was always predicted.
Send this to your doomer friend who has a very high P(Doom).
Accelerate.
I know Opus has to run in High/Medium, but I still tried using it at Extra High and Max for coding tasks. Wasted a bunch of credits on unnecessary changes...I had to revert and redo a lot of stuff....
@maria_rcks High is suitable for coding. [medium is okay, but for overall tasks, high is still what I found working good]
For other tasks, effort depends on the quality of things needed.
I really have a lot more expectations for Siri in Safari. Though it's mainly working for e-commerce price tracking right now. How about enabling this to general purpose tasks?
Like on YouTube: "Monitor this playlist, and lmk whenever a new video is added" or "Monitor this channel, and let me know when a video related to X-topic is released"
Expanding this to any other blog is going to be interesting. Or maybe we can make a small extension for chrome that does this. Should think of this someday.
Opus 5.5 communicates more naturally, addressing some of the most common feedback we heard on Opus 5.
It puts the most important information up front and follows the writing rules you give it, which makes long sessions easier to follow.
To be frank AI is not at all the goal of this. It is just a framework to import a paper and read it in a cleaner easier-to-read layout, without the small fonts, the fixed PDF columns, and the artifacts from the HTML files. While possibly exporting it to Kindle or other e-readers via ePubs (not the fixed-pdfs).
That was the original goal: make the actual paper easier to read. AI is just entirely optional, just to add different levels of overview to help someone ease into reading the paper if they want to.
In my case as much as I like reading papers, I like them when they are more visually presented to me, and that's what I'm trying to make the workflows do.
Of course this is still all experimental. I have tested conversion across different paper templates but there are still formatting issues to work through.
After several iterations, LocalXiv is finally usable! I launched it on Product Hunt today and would love to hear your thoughts.
