Even Calvin knew that “gift” was referring to the entire clause before it - meaning salvation by grace through faith.

To say it is only referring to only the last word before it (“faith”) would not be a correct reading of the Greek due to masculine vs feminine usages of the pronoun “it”.

Calvinists seem to turn the God’s call into an irresistible, faith/allegiance effectuating event.

And if it doesn’t end up with the person repenting and believing, they would call that a failure on God’s part rather than a consequence of the free will God may have given to man.

He won’t engage. His definition of sovereignty is that God meticulously controls everything. Yet, we sin horribly over and over breaking the heart of God. He thinks God meticulously controls/causes that but also not because that’s why. 😵‍💫

He hasn’t figured out how to solve that contradiction. So, it’s easier to tell you to “do your homework”.

It would depend on God’s general knowledge, how well God knows you and His wisdom.

It doesn’t follow that because God could possibly be wrong that he ever would be.

Just because it’s a possible option that Michael Jordan could lose a 1v1 to Danny DeVito, doesn’t he ever would.

So, the option could be there in a real sense but just never occur because God is just that good/wise/omniscient.
