Heads up, SW Florida! DO NOT be fooled by comparing last night's forecasted low temperatures with those for tonight! There are many reasons why TONIGHT will be MUCH worse for agricultural interests. Despite forecasts currently showing low 30's for most of SW FL, I believe that most rural areas where people have sensitive plants and tropical trees will be down in the 20's tonight, possibly even mid 20's. It's 48°F at 3:40 pm here in North Fort Myers right now, which is around the time where daytime highs are reached during cold, sunny weather here. There is going to be a very damaging freeze tonight in rural SW Florida, not just a quick, light freeze as forecasts would lead you to think. You need to protect your sensitive plants and tropical trees tonight, or else they will be badly damaged or destroyed by this severe freeze. Exposed pipes can freeze and leave you without water. Prepare now SW Florida!
Attention SW Florida: This forecast is way off! It will be down into the 20's tonight for most of *rural* SW Florida! Maybe even mid 20's in some places! Please share this with anyone who has sensitive plants or trees, because they probably aren't aware of just how severe the cold is going to be tonight. We were spared last night by the winds off the Gulf and the clouds. Not tonight! This freeze will be very damaging! Please spread the word!
We’re in for another night of dangerously cold weather. Make sure you have a plan for your pets, plants, and pipes. Don’t forget to practice fire safety!
If you need a place to stay warm, the City of Jacksonville Warming Center opens tonight at 9PM.

Brad Arnold is currently in the Outer Banks performing a very scientific snow measurement. It looks like he forgot his ruler and decided to make snow angels instead. We are tracking this winter storm live right now. Tune in to the stream to see what happens next. https://t.co/XqWmIhKUJf
