Stade Rennais vs Olympique Marseille 11/01/25
Match Analysis Thread: A De Zerbi Masterclass
Once again we have seen yet another outstanding away performance tactically from this Marseille side which I will breakdown in full tactical detail from start to finish in this thread.
@OliverUnderdown@LUFC Yep very poor offensively, was thinking this was an audition for a championship move this window can’t see their being many takers after this.
Tactically an excellent performance from Ryan Lowe’s team. Kept a strong shape and have grown into the game focusing on quick counters with Preston having 69% possession. Wingbacks effective, Preston lacking into quality and creativity in the final third despite ball retention.
Watched Preston vs Wigan today despite some of the more mouth watering clashes like Frankfurt vs Dortmund, Wrexham vs Forest and Cameroon vs Morocco.
Absolutely don’t regret it. Proper fun gritty FA Cup local derby. Harrison Bettoni definitely a player to watch for the future.

"Johnson again Ole oleeee...Johnson again Ole oleeee" 😍🥳🤩
Bad game:
"F*ck off!!! JUST F*CK OFF!! Youre not fit to wear the shirt" 🤬😡🤬
*About a man whos goal won us our first major European trophy in over 40 years*
Some of you lot are reactionary trash supporters I swear. You are, whether you want to admit it or not its what you are
Sosa’s positioning has been very good so far for Palace if he can improve his technical play he could prove to be effective rotation option for Mitchell at palace. The underlying numbers suggest he could be an attacking outlet for them. Great option for the €2.5m they paid Ajax
Amorim pushing Amad up the pitch changed the game completely. Amad has to start instead of Garnacho from now on further up. Huge game winning performance from him.
@TalkinTactics Should be something he used to as he managed in a league that only had 4 other decent sides at a push. Far too conservative but I think the Anthony sub was a great pragmatic change that will help open up this compact Southampton side.
