Dear SCOTUS:
Why is there even wiggle room on the question of absolute presidential immunity?
No president should have absolute immunity; otherwise they could shoot someone on fifth Avenue or stage a coup and still walk free.
Sincerely ,
An exhausted America
Liz Cheney: "It just can't be the case that a president can attempt to steal an election, to seize power, and we can't hold him to account until after the next election…No president can attempt to do what Donald Trump did and enjoy immunity for that."
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) signed two bills into law that prevent cities from closing a significant number of polling places close to an election and make it a felony to physically assault an election worker.
Thing is… Modern day autocracies don’t have to pass Enabling Acts because they know how to capture the legislature and courts while maintaining a veneer of democratic legitimacy through the media, which they’ve also captured.
That’s the path we’re on here.
"Trump’s lack of empathy and absence of conscience have long given him the license to invent his own rules, define his own reality, defy norms, and break multiple laws.," writes Tony Schwartz who spent 18 months with Trump as his ghostwriter

When the leader of one of the two major parties says it’s going to be a bloodbath if he doesn’t get elected & every American from both sides of the aisle aren’t outraged- something is drastically wrong
When are they going to stop DJT?
Trump: “If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath”
MAGA: He's talking about cars!
Trump: Women, you gotta treat em like shit.
MAGA: That’s just locker room talk!
Trump: I will be a dictator my first back in office!
MAGA: He said only for the first day!
#bloodbath
Deeply troubled by DJT’s ominous warning ahead of the presidential race in November
He threatened: “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — That’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.”
His words stand as a chilling reminder of the fragility of democracy
Political violence has no place in American Society
"If I don't get elected, it's gonna be a bloodbath. It's going to be a bloodbath for the country"
He's taken a political party and transformed it into a cult of political violence & chaos. The only way to stop the madness is to vote against him in Nov.
Rep. Shontel Brown describes Trump as "the bondless, insurrectionist, broke bluffer, twice impeached, 4 times indicted, insurrection-initiator, election-denying, self-declared dictator on day 1 & puppet for Putin. The one who wants to terminate the Constitution & defund the FBI"
Jason is a two-time Trump voter from Kansas: “I see more division, hate and chaos happening if he’s getting reelected.
In 2024, there’s no chance I’ll vote for Donald Trump.”

It’s a lot cooler to tell your kids you voted to save democracy than admit you voted for a twice impeached sex pest and insurrectionist simply because you’ve always voted republican.
Those of you who have followed me for a year or more probably already know this, so for some, the fact that I voted for Donald Trump in 2016 is simply a reminder.
For anyone following me who didn't already know that, let me say something you won't hear very often: That decision was a reflection of me and how much attention I was paying to Trump at the time.
I have no excuses or anyone else to blame.
Lest you think I had always voted Republican, I had voted for Barrack Obama in 2008. I mostly voted Republican.
Well before the end of Trump's term, I realized what an awful mistake I had made. I immediately left the Republican Party. The things I had seen the GOP support and defend left no other choice as far as I was concerned.
I make as many mistakes as anyone else. However, my early mentors taught me that when you find yourself having supported something unacceptable, leave and fight for what's right, even if it initially cuts against what you had previously supported: CHANGE.
That's exactly what I did. I've never looked back. It's a decision that has made me an outcast in my hard-core Republican community. I take pride in that. I was built for it.
Just know that's not how most people operate. People hate admitting fault and correcting themselves about as much as a trip to the dentist for a root canal.
Of course, changing parties also involves some identity change, and getting someone to make an identity shift is one of the most challenging things in human behavior. It's usually not a successful venture.
Don't waste time trying to pull Republicans away from Trump.
Independents? Sure, that's far more doable. Focus primarily on getting people registered to vote and following up to ensure they do vote.
The two are not the same, and registered voters...who didn't vote... are part of what brought us Trump in 2016.
We can't afford that again. We can't.
Treat this as seriously as the job you MUST succeed in getting after a long layoff, where bills have piled up, and financial collapse is looming just around the corner.
Many in the media are missing something big in the news about Donald’s failure to secure a bond.
It’s not just that Donald owes a vast sum of money and doesn't seem to have enough cash to pay his debt.
It’s that he’s an even greater national security risk than he already was — by being the presumptive Republican nominee for president of the United States who desperately in need of massive infusions of cash.
Today, Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL) pointed out that “any foreign adversary seeking to buy a President knows the price.”
That price is half a billion dollars — plus interest.
In the CDC Executive summary that accompanied the #covid19 isolation changes, they cite a survey in which less than half of participants would do an at-home test for covid19 if they had cold symptoms.
