Asylum seekers jailed for Brighton beach rape — court told one fled a murder sentence in Egypt
Three asylum seekers who raped a woman on Brighton beach have been jailed for 60 years and given a further six years on licence each.
Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, from Iran, and Ibrahim Alshafe, 25, from Egypt, were sentenced to 21 years for the rape. Karin Al-Danasurt, 20, from Egypt, received 18 years and six months for encouraging the attack and filming it. They must serve two-thirds of the custodial term before release can be considered.
The attack was in the early hours of 4 October 2025. The woman had become separated from friends after a night out. She was drunk. Phone footage showed her unconscious at points. She was left with bruises on her throat and neck. Two of the men took her behind a beach hut. Al-Danasurt arrived with a phone and recorded it. He told the court he was filming to help her. The jury rejected that.
All three were living in a Home Office hotel for asylum seekers at Lower Beeding, near Horsham. Ahmadi and Alshafe met on a small boat from France and arrived on 19 June 2025, less than four months before the rape. Al-Danasurt arrived in September 2024 and roomed with Alshafe. Their asylum claims had been refused. Alshafe’s refusal came the day before the attack. The following day Ahmadi absconded to Crewe. Police arrested them a week later.
Prosecutors said Al-Danasurt already had a murder conviction in Egypt and had crossed the Channel to avoid a long sentence. His barrister said the conviction belonged to his brother.
Judge Christine Henson KC said the men posed a high risk of further offending and that their ages were unverified. She said there was no guarantee they would be deported and that this was a matter for the Home Office. She sentenced on the risk they would pose if released from custody. The prosecution told the court to assess that danger without regard to the possibility they might one day be removed. Each man received a further six years on extended licence.
Under the UK Borders Act a foreign national given 12 months or more must be deported, subject to human rights exceptions. These sentences far exceed that threshold. A minister said they would be removed after sentencing. Ahmadi’s counsel said he had signed deportation papers.
Egypt accepts British holidaymakers and, on Home Office figures, accepts enforced returns and emergency travel documents. A 2026 UK-Egypt agreement was sold as speeding up the return of Egyptians with no right to stay. Iran does not accept enforced removals. Two of the three are Egyptian. One is Iranian.

No euro. No European Parliament. No Green Deal. It doesn't even know the pleasure of waiting for Brussels to explain to it what laws it should pass in its own country. Worse still, the Swiss have been deprived of a fundamental European privilege: the opportunity to be outvoted by countries whose combined population fits into a larger European metropolis.

The results of this catastrophic isolation are visible to the naked eye: its own currency, its own migration policy, efficient railways, very low unemployment, a gigantic export sector, and one of the highest standards of living in the world. Tragedy. Without MEPs, the Swiss can't even send a few dozen politicians to Strasbourg to transport democracy there from Brussels once a month.

They also lack access to all that European regulatory wisdom. Instead of implementing every political fad of twenty-seven countries, they have the audacity to hold their own referendums and decide for themselves what suits them. Apparently, no one told them that in the 21st century, sovereignty is backward—unless you use it according to instructions.

This is exactly how rejecting the European project ends: with wealth, stability, its own currency, and the irritating ability to make decisions independently.

The Swiss really should rethink their mistakes.
