Teachers engineering (h)umanizing spaces with youth and communit(ies) by centering youth as teacher educators. Located at Cal State LA, Division of C & I.
This last year, T2P PI @academicmajesty applied for an NSF CAREER that was not funded. We still have 2 more tries. Even though the decision is disappointing, we will continue to fight for university-based teacher education programs that support youth as teacher educators!
T2P is excited to continue our teacher education work this semester. We found out yesterday that we were extended for another semester of SIMPACT funding, allowing us to continue impacting teacher education courses with youth-centered field instruction using simulations.
T2P had its first research meeting yesterday with 7 people in attendance! We are so excited for this work and for the humanity we all bring to our individual and collective spaces. @jelmarsh @academicmajesty
T2P is thankful for the support as we have onboarded several student assistants this semester to collaborate on the project. Thanks for the support, C&I, and the CCOE! @jelmarsh @academicmajesty
At The T(h)inker Place (henceforth referred to as T2P) we are concerned with the development of humanizing spaces in teacher education and teacher learning in educative ways. We really look towards engaging the rightful presence of youth first and foremost in teacher education.
However, we also look towards critical scientific literacy and the agency undertaken by youth to engage in critical learning and teaching of science for community concerns that involve elements of community literacy and cultural wealth. All while understanding the ways spaces (1)
The @thethinkerplace is excited to launch it’s lab website where co-PI’s will be posting blogs, content and research for various projects and work being done to support critical engagement of PSTs and in-service teachers in practice. Please visit: https://t.co/VTpmjdkCXp
After a year of HARD work done by Dr @jelmarsh we finally have our IRB approved for our entire @thethinkerplace lab! I am so excited, but also, extremely thankful for Dr. Marsh’s sacrifice and hard work leading and teaching me about our university’s IRB process! #bookmode
Rest in peace, bell hooks. I will be forever thankful for your work, passion and righteousness in centering humanity and justice in the lives of all oppressed peoples of the world. Your mission will live on in all we do. Wishing you eternal peace.
We are excited to launch The T(h)inker Place @thethinkerplace. After we developed Literacy+STEM and STEPS 4 Equity, we believed there was one piece missing between content and coherent practice—engineering spaces. This multi-year work is being led by @majestyacademic & @jelmarsh
