@hontonihontoni@ajmtd@MrEAnders And there aren't equal rights for gay people now. Or, where is the Federal law or SCOTUS case saying nobody anywhere in the U.S. can be fired for being gay?
@ankurnagpal@alexisgrant No no no please just get a consult with an actual immigration lawyer and not some random finance bro. Please don't get deported due to some hustledude's bad advice.
@RottenInDenmark@yrfatfriend@MaintenancePod
This is as wild as it is unsurprising and I of course thought of you. Person gets emergency surgery removing a tumor, loses weight from it, and "healthy" coworker goes full harrassment. Fake name even "Aubrey"

@lulu_barringer@jamieloftusHELP Found out about that only after moving to Maynard. Learned about it from a chatty local DJ at a coffee shop who was telling us we just missed Chris Evans' mom being there.
@ramit It can be very rewarding but it is definitely an "investment" that takes ~1% liquid cash per year for an avg 4% gain and if you liquidate it you need somewhere new to live.
@tamarindapilla @d_feldman I mean a degree of this is true, but maybe the houses built 300 years ago that are still standing are the only ones they that were built to last 300+ years? I'm in New England in the U.S. so maybe different elsewhere
@qikipedia Ho Chi Minh also worked at the Parker House hotel in Boston (birthplace of Boston Cream Pie and Parker House Rolls). Then a couple decades later Malcolm X worked there.
@jessi97671438@SaveYourSons It's a shame for the good local troops (like the one I was in) that the national org formally hated gay people and criminally ignored the safety of children so long that it damaged the reputation of the concept of scouting. It's on them that the Boy Scouts have been declining.
@daarfield@Cory_Tucek@ExcelHumor I use it more than Excel at my job. Great for collaboration and easy imprting between sheets, before you even get to the QUERY function and its better use of array formulas. Main thing Excel has for me is that I know how to do VBA macros and not Google Script
@ShamriCayia@liltiddybighart@realChaseDurant@emiweelee@ProvoSchoolDist Because the history behind its creation, and the data that went into the categories such as "overweight" and "obese", was based exclusively on averages for European men. Obviously they mean the application and history of BMI is racist, not the number itself.
@cccccssssllll @llmunro Family separation is sometimes the least bad option available. The answer is to invest more heavily in social programs in an attempt to decrease the amount of times that it is the least bad option. Unfortunately the need would only be reduced, not eliminated.
@GravyTheyself@QuahogsUnited @llmunro Why can't you accept that some biofamilies are awful and abusive? Family unification should ALWAYS be the primary goal but here it seems adoption was the less bad option. If you are denying adoptees' agency and experiences you probably have your own stuff to work on so good luck
@hcnova1@ms_butterfly03 @llmunro I read it as "more social investment would both help families economically and could help break cycles of abuse that lead to too many kids being taken from their biofamilies". That would be a multi-generation change in combination with solutions for now.
@gishmi1ish@Vowsornever@TheBacklogger @llmunro Fortunately this is changing in some places (of course only some, and not fast enough). Pre-adoptive education in MA stresses how all of what you mentioned there is awful, and the default is to maintain relationship with biofamily unless unsafe because that is best for the child.
