“the graveyard. . .”
right well she did want to do
anything in her power to make
everything better, even if it was
just for the time when they were
together like this.
“if that’s what you want.”
⠀
⠀Holding onto Larissa's arm, Morticia walked in step with her out of their room and through the school grounds.
⠀⠀❛ It is. The graveyard is perfectly
⠀⠀⠀eerie this time of year. ❜
⠀
⠀
⠀⠀❛ A walk sounds lovely. ❜
⠀Fresh air would certainly be nice. It wouldn't help her sleep, but she'd been cooped up inside all day, so she needed to spread her proverbial wings.
⠀She stepped to the door in only her dress. The cold had never bothered her.
⠀
“do you want to go for a walk?
maybe that will clear your mind
a bit.”
moving to her side of the room to
grab her cardigan, it was cold but
winter had yet to make itself known
fully.
⠀
⠀It took a moment before Morticia straightened again, giving Larissa's hand a final, parting squeeze before she withdrew to stand with the book, placing it aside.
⠀⠀❛ Of course we will. ❜
⠀
⠀
⠀Another sigh slipped free from her lips as her eyes slipped shut.
⠀⠀❛ There is so little information
⠀⠀⠀on what I have... I fear we will
⠀⠀⠀never find the answer. ❜
⠀
“coping and giving up are
not the same thing, we
will figure something out
there are so many books
we haven’t read yet.”
even if it felt like nothing
would work, she would do
anything.
⠀
⠀⠀❛ Maybe... ❜
⠀Morticia squeezed Larissa's hand gently, sliding her fingers into the other girl's in a tight, unified hold. With a sigh, she dropped her head against her roommate's shoulder.
⠀⠀❛ Or maybe I'll have to learn to
⠀⠀⠀cope with it. ❜
⠀
“well maybe we haven’t
looked in the right place
yet.”
her tone was firm as she
curled her fingers around
morticia’s hand and squeezed
gently.
“don’t give up.”
⠀
⠀A deep sigh slipped free from her lips at that question, the book clicking shut.
⠀⠀❛ Not yet. I've searched
⠀⠀⠀everything I can think of—
⠀⠀⠀runes, incantations,
⠀⠀⠀crystals— but I don't think
⠀⠀⠀anything is going to help me. ❜
⠀
“that can be something i
can do when i am not busy.”
should a day like that ever even
arrive, but she couldn’t help the
small smile—ticklish. she had
always been ticklish there.
“have you found anything
about not being able to
sleep?”
⠀
⠀⠀❛ Learn about them? Yes. I'm
⠀⠀⠀unsure of the efficiency. ❜
⠀A giggle escaped her at those words. Gently, she poked Larissa's side, eyes sparkling.
⠀⠀❛ I know you're fine, silly. It's
⠀⠀⠀to protect you from any harm;
⠀⠀⠀to keep you safe. ❜
⠀
“can non magical people learn
about them as well? well you
know—normal people like me.”
a soft blush dusted her cheeks
she wouldn’t run away this time,
this was something—someone
she needed to lean into.
“me? i’m fine!”
⠀
⠀⠀❛ Oh! Definitely! There's so
⠀⠀⠀much to learn about runes,
⠀⠀⠀but protection is the most
⠀⠀⠀important. ❜
⠀In her opinion, anyway. She inclined her head at the question, smile softening.
⠀⠀❛ Myself, and the people I care
⠀⠀⠀about— 𝘺𝘰𝘶. ❜
⠀
“protection runes? well
that does sound like it
would come in handy.”
of course she didn’t understand
that much when she wasn’t a
witch, but she would still
listen.
“who are you trying to
protect?”
⠀
⠀⠀❛ Why not? ❜
⠀A red-painted nail tapped at one of the pages of the book as she angled the tome so Larissa could see.
⠀⠀❛ These are protection runes. ❜
⠀
