@ErikTwice Just in case I came off preachy, what I'm trying to say: the juice for Chainsaw Man is very much worth the squeeze IMO. Yes, there is fan service, but the ratios are so much more biased towards good artistic content Vs cheesecake compared to a lot of work out there.

Great flick though. I appreciated the juxtaposition of animation styles, especially apparent towards the end.

@ErikTwice There are interesting hooks to keep it in my rotation. The overall dystopian setting alone is engaging enough for that.

To expand on my strongest reaction to the show: I'm glad to see 'moe' character design and presentation take a back seat. More of this please.

@ErikTwice ...but the story might just be a little bit too mad-cap for me. I've been seeking humanistically grounded pathos/melancholia of late, over escapism. Not a flaw of the show, but more an expression of contemporaneous taste-alignment 2/2

@ErikTwice Stylistically, absolutely. It is charmingly outside of the safe 'default' anime template in its presentation. Lashings of Tim Burton in the aesthetic.

Agreed on the character designs too, in a more general sense.
