Riyazuddin Mansoori. Plz read this name again. He saved eight lives in Delhi hotel fire.

Mansoori n his son Arman, took out 20-25 mattresses from his shop n kept outside window of the hotel where fire broke out. So that people stuck inside could jump.

Eight people could save their lives because of Mansoori family. He didn't think about loss of a few lakhs of mattresses.

He himself might don't want to boast. But this is for everyone who try to criminalise every act by Muslims.

A woman named Padma Shree from Mysore has uploaded a video where she filmed branding a group of people as 'illegal Bangladeshi immigrants' without producing any proof. In the video, the people being filmed repeatedly say they are Indians from Assam, yet their words are ignored while they are publicly humiliated and branded as 'Illegal Bangledeshis'.
Is this now normalised? To randomly target, record, and vilify people based on appearance and language? Such vigilantism can endanger innocent citizens and fuel hatred against people from the Northeast and Bengali speaking communities.
If someone is suspected of violating the law, authorities exist to investigate. Not social media mobs.

ये था पण्डित जवाहरलाल नेहरू का वैश्विक सम्मान। —

Four hours at the Passport Office Mumbai @rpomumbai with my minor daughter for her passport renewal because the father’s signature isn’t there. FOUR HOURS of zero clarity, zero empathy, zero system. My child is hungry, exhausted, sitting on a plastic chair in a sea of chaos while officials keep sending us from one counter to another with no answers.

Why is a single mother still treated like a suspicious exception instead of a parent? Why is a child being punished because the system cannot handle families that don’t fit a perfect template? Absolute humiliation, overcrowding, indifference, and no accountability. Passport Office Mumbai seriously needs to do better for single parents and children. This is really not a country for single mothers.

‘धुरंधर’ फ़िल्म को मुस्लिम सोशल से जोड़ना ग़लत

बीते दिनों एक महत्त्वपूर्ण कार्यक्रम में जाना हुआ। वहां बतौर वक्ता शिक्षाविद् और सिनेमा स्टडीज़ की स्कॉलर इरा भास्कर भी मौजूद थीं।
पुस्तक परिचर्चा के बाद श्रोताओं के लिए सवाल-जवाब का सिलसिला जब शुरू हुआ तो एक सवाल के जवाब में इरा जी ने उपर्युक्त स्टैंड लिया। हालांकि, इससे पहले भी वे तमाम मजबूत आधारों के साथ ‘धुरंधर’ फ़िल्म आलोचना बेहद बेबाक़ी से करती रही हैं।

उसी दिन एक और बात हुई, एक व्यक्ति जिसे मैं हिंदू राष्ट्रवादी विचारधारा से उसके जुड़ाव और उसका स्त्रीद्वेषी होना, दोनों को रेखांकित कर पाई। दरअसल इन दोनों के कारक और तत्त्व में बड़ी समानता है, इसलिए ये एक-दूसरे के पूरक की तरह काम करते हैं, कम से कम मुझे इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।

ख़ैर, उस व्यक्ति पर आते हैं।श्रोता में बैठे उन महाशय को इस बात से आपत्ति हुई कि, ‘इरा भास्कर अंग्रेज़ी में अपनी बात कैसे रख सकती हैं, उन्हें अपनी बात हिंदी में रखनी चाहिए!’ सभी वक्ताओं के बाद जब इरा जी ने संबंधित पुस्तक पर अपनी बात रखनी शुरू की, तो उन्होंने सबसे पहले यही कहा कि, क्योंकि वो अंग्रेज़ी में अभिव्यक्त करने में अधिक सहज हैं इसलिए वे ज़्यादातर अंग्रेज़ी में बोलेंगी।

ये बात उन महाशय को नागवार गुजरी उन्होंने अपनी सीट पर बैठे-बैठे ही लगभग झल्लाते हुए कहा, आप हिंदी के कार्यक्रम में आई हैं तो हिंदी में ही बोले न! क्या फ़ायदा हम समझ ही न पाएं तो! आपको हिंदी में बोलना चाहिए।’
इसपर इरा जी ने बेहद शालीनता से कहा कि, ‘मेरे साथी वक्ताओं को मैंने अच्छे से हिंदी में सुना, मुझसे बहुत अच्छा लगा। पर क्योंकि मैं अंग्रेज़ी में सहज अधिक हूं अपनी बात रखने में जो सिनेमा पर रखना चाहती हूं तो इसलिए ऐसा है।’

इस पर सबसे ख़ूबसूरत इंटरवीन मंच से उस लेखक और कलाकार का था जिनकी किताब पर वह कार्यक्रम था। उन्होंने कहा कि हम सब आपको सुनेंगे, आप जिसमें सहज हों। उन्होंने उन महाशय को भी व्यावहारिकता की सहालियत को अपने शालीन जेस्चर से समझाया।
इसके बाद इरा जी ने अपनी बात रखी, लगभग 15 मिनट तक सबने बेहद शांति से उनको सुना। इरा जी ने संवाद के जिस लहजे में पुस्तक पर अपनी दृष्टि को रखा, वह इतनी सरल भाषा थी कि उस दिन सिनेमा को देखने के नज़रिये में एक नया आयाम जुड़ता हुआ महसूस हुआ।

अच्छा तो उन महाशय का बताती हूं अब। कमाल बात है! कि उन्होंने इरा जी को पूरा सुना। पर जितनी देर इरा जी बोलीं उतनी देर उन महाशय के माथे पर इतनी लकीरें बनीं रहीं कि पूरे हॉल में मुझे उनका बिगड़ा चेहरा अलग ही दिख रहा था। इसमें उनकी ग़लती नहीं है, ऊपर रेखांकित उस विचारधारा की वजह से ऐसा चेहरा बन ही जाता है।

पर उन्होंने पूरा सुना तो जाहिर है कुछ सीख कर ही गए होंगे, क्योंकि इरा जी के वक्तव्य में एक अनुपात में हिंदी भी बनी हुई थी, अपनी हिंदुस्तानी भाषा! तो उन्हें संप्रेषित तो हुआ ही होगा कुछ।
बोलती हुई स्त्री,पॉलिटिकली जागरूक स्त्री, बुद्धिजीवी स्त्री, तार्किक स्त्री, इतना सबको बर्दाश्त करने की पर उनकी मशक़्क़त साफ़ देख पा रही थी।

वैसे यह आयोजन कई मायनों में प्रासंगिक रहा। ऐसे समय में जब ख़ुद को ग़ैर-राजनीतिक घोषित करके कई लोग और संस्थाएं मोर्चेबंदी के इतिहास और वर्तमान को कमज़ोर कर रहे हैं, एक आयोजक द्वारा एक ऐसा पाठक-श्रोता-वक्ता-लेखक वर्ग तैयार करने की कोशिश, जो जनतंत्र को बनाए रखने में अहम भूमिका निभाते हैं, क़ाबिल-ए-तारीफ़ है।
