Very few know the inside story of the referee appointment for France match. The French team was asked if they are fine with all Argentine referees and they were appalled, they said this is just blatant cheating, clearly the Argentine refs will do anything and everything to keep them out and secure the WC for Argentina.
At which Fifa then replied, okay, then we'll give you Premier League's Michael Oliver.

He shouldn’t be punished because the officials misread the situation.

Portugal have every right to feel hard done by. Goals change momentum, they change confidence, and they change football matches. Instead of celebrating a deserved equaliser, they’re left arguing about an offside that, for me, simply wasn’t there.

When I look at that replay, I don’t see an offside player.

I see a defender playing Ronaldo on.

I see a perfectly good goal.

And I see Portugal being denied a moment they deserved.”
