Now that IDW’s Transformers and GIJoe era has drawn to a close, I’m thinking back to my time with the characters. Here are some layouts from an old sketchbook:
Wishing a very fond farewell to the IDW era of Transformers. A big ❤️ to everyone I had the pleasure to work with or meet over the years. Loved these characters since I was a kid, and working on the books was an honor that changed my life.
There's lots to say about the end of Transformers at IDW but in short: Thank you. To those who supported me when I didn't believe in myself, those who supported my work, then my books. We're still together, still on a journey, just the destination has changed. Time to roll out, x
Hey! Yesterday was quite an auspicious day (which I missed!), as it marked the last @IDWPublishing#Transformers comic after a colossal 17-year run! I still remember colluding with @chris_ryall and @ejsu28 on Infiltration #0, our launchpad title. Phew! Sob! Wow! It's been EPIC!
I wish I had the mental bandwidth right now to properly mark the passing of IDW's #Transformers. The threads you guys are putting together are wonderful.
To the editors, fellow creators and readers: Thank you.
Together, all of us, we achieived something.
Today marks the release of @IDWPublishing’s final #Transformers comic, and the franchise is now untethered from the publisher that made some of the best licensed comics in the last decade. I wanted to share some of my own history with IDW’s Robots In Disguise:
It's strange to think that I started working on #MTMTE back in 2011. Where did all that time go? Thanks to the fans who made this series as popular as it was. I'm happy you enjoyed the work I did for it.

@IDW_David_M Thanks for the memories :)
With the conclusion of the second SG series out, IDW is now done with their stories for The Transformers franchise. With this company's chapter with the brand closing, I wanted to do what others involved with IDW and it's run on Transformers is doing and say goodbye(and thanks)!
Today marks the release of the final Transformers issue from IDW, Shattered Glass II #5
IDW Transformers changed my life. There’s so much more to say than I can find the words for. In my opinion it’s the most important iteration of Transformers in the history of the franchise.
About 14 yrs ago w/ some good luck in a cover contest, an unexpected email from @chris_ryall, encouragement from @mowrychris & an eventual offer of work from @dentontipton I started a long journey of working w/ IDW, one that led to many friendships & destinations. What a run. thx
Today marks the end of IDW #Transformers . I was there for 12 of those years. @IDWPublishing allowed me to achieve my childhood dream of working in comics, on my most beloved IPs, and I got to make great friends along the way. I'm so thankful to be a part of this run.

Difficult to believe we said goodbye to IDW's Transformers today. I've spent a LOT of words on these comics over the last 17yrs, in articles, podcasts, videos, so I'll just say - thanks guys, it really was a hell of a run. Hard to imagine we'll see its like again for a long time.
Ah why not, we're all reminiscing! Here's some of my IDW Firsts: Getting to pitch-in colors on Infiltration! John Rauch had the honor of kicking things off, I got in a little later, but was pleased to be able to help out! Getting my first taste of that @ejsu28 goodness ;)
