@Kuragune@DripGodRagna I agree with this point and my original reply was loaded with the greater discourse rather than in response to what he actually said. Misfire on my part.
@MBV4lentin3@DripGodRagna I admit I didn’t really respond to what he actually said when I first replied. My bad. Better discussion below that reply since they took the time to discuss with me.
@DripGodRagna I definitely came at you putting the weight of the whole FGC on your shoulders, my bad. Not even sure why I replied to you specifically since it was all over my feed. Glad I did tho appreciate the civil discussion.
@DripGodRagna I think it’s a finer line than you are making it out to be and people catch strays for having valid issues. But I realize now you mainly responded to OP who clearly isn’t an FG fan, and I agree there are people who don’t like FGs trying to pass off their dislike as critique.
@DripGodRagna What would change is they would be validated in how they feel - I’m struggling and it’s not cause I’m just bad it’s because what I’m trying to do is hard. Most of the time I see the opposite. “Combos are hard to learn” you’re lazy. “Losing 1v1s sucks” weak ego no accountability.
@DripGodRagna I was saying the opposite, FG players will swear up and down it is not uniquely difficult to get into, but that is not working - new players argue w/ them. I agree most are welcoming but that is to new players who are already committed enough to join discords or whatever.
@DripGodRagna Fighting the idea that FGs are uniquely hard to get into is not working. I don’t think FGs should change to accommodate. I think FGC should be selling it like Souls fans do. Yes it’s hard but that’s why it’s fun and engaging. Put in the time and reap the rewards.
@DripGodRagna Not to me but OP you seemed condescending. I guess I’m talking past you a little bit, more about my frustrations with FGC attitude toward people like OP who voice problems with getting into FGs. Everyone has lost their patience, maybe cause this discourse happens every 6 months.
@DripGodRagna You said 10 min. Makes no sense to say to a beginner. I don’t think this level of antagonism is beneficial. You’re fighting negative perception with animosity, and I think ignoring what a bunch of newcomers are saying doesn’t make sense. Many others say the same thing as the OP.
@_SaturnOW_ Hotter take on top of your hot take: Exceptions and hero-specific rules like this are indicative of a fundamental design issue that should be addressed, probably some kind of redesign of the hero's kit or the specific abilities that have the special rules.
@aedonlight If I liked AFKing "like a dumbass" I'd love Push since that is the optimal play in overtime sometimes. What unintuitive actually = is that it's the only mode in the game where contesting in overtime is not always the right play.
@hamzaza251669 Fair does not mean good or intuitive. Most competitive games have some level of unevenness in their design, because it is fun. Even a game like Counter Strike has maps that are T sided or CT sided. Fair is never bad but it's not necessarily good.
@Spiegeleifisch1@OWAnonymous_ I just don't think "don't contest in overtime" is skill expression, at best it's a knowledge check. We clearly disagree whether it's a good or bad mode but the answer to OP's question is that it's unintuitive, especially since none of the other modes are like that.
@MsViviValentine@OWAnonymous_ I disagree, it's called "Push" and sometimes you are throwing by pushing. In literally every other mode in the game contesting in overtime is a good thing to do. It's not hard to figure out but it is unintuitive - especially in the context of the rest of the game modes.
@Ppy4nk1@OWAnonymous_ "If someone disagrees with me they are Stupid or Out of Touch." Love that line of thinking, really easy to dismiss arguments out of hand that way, and requires no introspection or thought. I can just insult them and I don't even have to formulate an argument.
@EternalMaggi@OWAnonymous_ Different topic but IMO they should remove map voting, it's a net negative for the game and community. It allows players to unfairly reinforce their own biases for and against maps/modes, either by underexposure or overexposure, and makes everyone worse at the game for it.
@kaljamonni@OWAnonymous_ Balanced does not equal good or intuitive. And it certainly doesn't equal fun. Push is designed for Walking Back and Forth enjoyers. Same people who swear by Push will tell you Escort sucks, even though Push is just Escort Hell where you recap first point over and over.
@Spiegeleifisch1@OWAnonymous_ Intuitiveness is the measure in which something is immediately apparent without thinking. So...yes. Your natural inclination is to push the bot in a mode called "Push" - I didn't say it was rocket science I said it was unintuitive.
