@bscholl I don’t think it’s that interesting. If you look at Apple holistically they had a product but needed to secure supply chain, now they have supply chain and need to get a new hardware device. SJ working even after his death.
@StockSavvyShay Meta has a major reputation problem. I am not sure about others but it’s less likely to get access to all the things it needs to make decisions. On device agents (privacy) that Apple or Google likely introduce will have a much more impacts
@GavinSBaker With all respect to you @GavinSBaker, this is a classic case of off ramp from expenditure and limiting liability rather than anything to do with security. This will only limit local competition and establish AI cartel, as David Sachs correctly points.
@MollySOShea It’s not really breaking, is it? Guy blows up his fund, a16z probably invested, and probably helped orchestrate the sale to Citadel. But values Leo enough to not let him sell books on who his investors were and how much he lost 🤣
@dwarkesh_sp That’s a terrible analogy. Comparing an H100 to a human software engineer is like comparing automobiles to horse-drawn buggies. The value of compute isn’t determined by what it replaces today—it’s determined by the productivity of the models running on it.
@elonmusk@yacineMTB Also the only reason you need to praise Anthropic now is to gain their business. Dario would be stupid to put his trust in your DCs completely.
@NickNemo17 Interesting thread, but I think you’re overlooking one key point: the system is too interconnected to be allowed to fail.
All major players have overlapping exposures. As long as the Fed can print, the incentive will be to extend, refinance, & socialize losses without implosion.
Could it be that it’s in JD’s egotistical interest to let go of suitable successors that can outperform him? Maybe he wants to be associated with the “The Dimon era was the golden age of JPMorgan” 🤔🤔
