@thestinkeye@smalls2672 How quickly you got to suggesting we give babies from "sinful" women to "pure" ones.
How soon before America brings back mother and baby homes?
Also, please remember that making abortion illegal does not stop the number of abortions. It just stops SAFE abortions.
@katelynanne@HannahPosted Historically people believed bad smells made you ill so people would wash and perfume throughout history. having bad BO is actually quite recent
Once upon a time an American man wanted to build a golf course in Scotland because his mother was born there. He submitted the plans but was told no, because it would damage the special environment. But this man didn't like to be told no, so he promised great jobs and riches so
I don't think you realize how far "the first step is dehumanization" really goes. After 20+ years of it you are desensitized but as an Arab Muslim I have lived it and I can tell you it is getting worse🧵
@mattzollerseitz It's not something I typically think about unless I know the time had very specific eyebrows. But. Period films tell us as much (if not more) about the time they were made as the time they are set and I find that fascinating
@jonespharmd @Just_KatyH @robinhobb I actually read them out of order bc someone bought me Liveships so when I went back, I read six Fitz books back-to-back. It was good bc like you, I was eager for more, but the breaks are good bc Fitz does get heavy 😅
It's brilliant but it's brilliant because the banter FEELS like modern-day table banter of a fun, silly TTRPG group and also I firmly choose to believe the 'friend who plays a paladin who can only show up for one session a month' was an intentional vibe they chased.
If anyone needed an indication of the battle #fashionhistory is still fighting to establish its legitimate place in academic discourse! Ironically Sargent wanted to paint Ellen Terry BECAUSE of her amazing dress! so disappointing from @guardian - https://t.co/0DUWombqnF
@jonespharmd @Just_KatyH @robinhobb Here's a handy guide. The beauty of Hobb's writing is that you could just read the Fitz books only.
I would strongly recommend you read Liveships (and Dragonkeepers) as things do tie in a lot - it's my favourite of the whole saga
Can anyone @guardian tell us why somebody who hates fashion was asked to review an exhibition about it? Sargent and Fashion review – tragicomic travesty is a frock horror https://t.co/d4mLix8hfR
@SEND_Survival@philsharrock I miss being able to dress without thinking while still half asleep! Now I actually have to think about what I am wearing to work. Do not miss the itchy wool/poly jumper though 🤣
@TyburnFleet@ITimbrell@philsharrock I usually argue against uniforms. But as someone who developed early, having uniform on helped prove that I was actually a student and qualified for children/student rail prices 🤣
THIS. I read motherf*king WIFEY when I was like 12. From 7th grade on, I EXCLUSIVELY read adult books. Anne Rice, Stephen King, Dean Koontz. It is just INSANE to me that this generation of parents apparently forgot that Kids Reading Wild-Ass Adult Books is a developmental stage.
