@davepl1968 100% agree. There is a market for dumb TVs. Looking for a replacement, the only affordable option is to get a smart one, never enable the networking, and tinker with the settings.
@TomcatJunkie The first one looks like an F-16 flying in the sky. The Grok one looks like an F-16 super-imposed on an arty background. Possibly better for a wallpaper, but I prefer the realer one. However, this is subjective.
@Erdayastronaut You're not alone Tim! And it isn't just an age thing. I used to think it was, but younger people are noticing this at the same time as older people.
I think keeping your head down for work and enjoying the offline, natural, organic parts of life is a good approach.
@Becsywecsy are you still around in these here parts? I recently bought WRC 10 and I was pleasantly surprised to hear a very familiar voice guiding the experience.
@davepl1968 I was thinking about how much I loved it when my dad bought the Funk and Wagnalls. Such a treasure trove of knowledge! Then came Encarta on CD! Incredible time.
@TychoBrahe There are many of us on this journey and it starts with jumping between distros to find the one that suits, depending on if you want to suffer updating packages daily (Fedora), whether you want to be able to brick your OS (go for immutable if not), and so on.
@DiscussingFilm I thought this was great when I was 10. It is, however, not great. It is also very obvious as an adult that they quickly killed the old crew so they could launch a new line of transformer toys.
