IMPORTANT POST
Last night, Israeli settlers deliberately blocked the road to a Palestinian home, cutting off anyone trying to reach or save the family.
Then the house was set on fire with them trapped inside.
Two children survived.
The rest of the family burned to death.
@PaavoKuronen BCH has a rough path behind and ahead. I don't think there's a coin more unjustly stigmatized, while the mass of users don't even know its full capabilities.
But it's getting better, discussion after discussion; some get curious, some just realise they don't know shit about it.
@ZephiraNET@PaavoKuronen Monero being delisted is the best it could have happened to it.
I love BCH, but it needs a strong cypherpunk narrative like XMR.
We are getting there, but not yet, and not very soon certainly.
"Just run a node" is the most successful folklore in Bitcoin.
Node counts aren't votes. Signaling percentages aren't consensus. August 8 was the invoice. https://t.co/XeeohBoEHf
@agarbatti__@GordoDan_ Pinche enfermo. Una cosa es el argumento de un cúmulo de células, otra cosa es asesinar a un ser humano un mes antes de su potencial nacimiento.
@TheDesertLynx How many of them provide decentralized native swaps?
Only thing that comes to my mind is still just an idea for many many years without any product: Serai Dex.
So far, there's no-one to compete in the same field as Throchain. I believe.
@TimDraper Sounds good, but at 7TPS? without quantum resistance? without covenants?
We better find and use a version of Bitcoin that can fulfill that profecy. If what we care is about Bitcoin succeeding, and not about how much fiat we get for a satoshi.
Alright, I really want to address this whole "Real Bitcoin" thing.
First let's get the obvious out of the way: I *personally* consider Bitcoin Cash to be "The Real Bitcoin(tm)".
Does that mean I think BTC is "fake Bitcoin?" No, it doesn't.
I think if there are any two chains that have any legitimate claim to being "the real bitcoin" it would be BTC and BCH. But we don't have to have that argument right now because this post is actually about BIP-110.
As I listen to the Bitcoin community talking about BIP-110, there's a common theme that keeps coming up:
"What Luke is doing now is exactly like what Roger did with Bcash, calling it the real bitcoin"
Now, I'll caveat - I was not a witness to the blocksize wars. And yes, I understand the bitcoin dot com fiasco. And no, I do not have any allegiance to or affiliation with Roger.
Yeah, BCHers and 110ers are both using the "Bitcoin is money" angle and the "Core is compromised" angle. I do believe both of those things to be true.
But look at both the circumstances and the execution.
I think it was clear to basically everyone from the start that BIP-110 was not going to succeed and had failed to gain any kind of meaningful consensus.
Objectively, a blockchain that could barely mine two blocks before stalling is not a successful blockchain.
Seriously - imagine being *less competent than BSV!!*
And the circumstances... this proposal was not prompted by any kind of existential threat to Bitcoin.
The blocksize debate was *actually contentious*, and both sides had significantly more support than BIP-110 ever did.
The consequences of the blocksize wars are still being felt a decade later. I think we can all agree that BIP-110 will be forgotten relatively soon.
So when making the comparison between Luke and Roger... I don't think it's so simple.
At least Roger had a point. Luke is clearly delusional and a chronic liar.
And let's state the obvious - any coin that changes the PoW algorithm has arguably zero claim to being called "Bitcoin" at all.
What I have been finding through all of this drama is that there are many more similarities between the BTC and BCH communities than there are differences. And it's been nice for our communities to communicate more over the past year or two. I believe there is some mutual respect developing despite all of the shitposting on both sides (never stop shitposting)!
BTC and BCH both agree:
- Bitcoin has serious potential to change all of civilization for the better.
- Bitcoin should be used for monetary purposes, not "spam" or "data storage" purposes.
- 21M is basically sacred.
- Most altcoins are not worth their weight in shit.
- Self-sovereignty is the lever that allows the revolution.
When you keep those things in mind, the "Real Bitcoin" argument really stops mattering.
I have my belief, but there's no sense in trying to attack that angle because people have so many different ideas about what Bitcoin "is" to begin with.
What actually matters is each coin's ability to fulfill the mission that we all agree on.
And if you're not onboard for that mission, you're in the wrong place in my opinion.
@SteveW928@derekmross Yeah, yeah. Satoshi always spoke about Segwit and RBF, as opposed to 0-conf and scaling through bigger blocks... Oh, wait. It's the opposite and you're just a fucking ignorant and stupid piece of shit.
