Devlog #1 — AstroPets: Tycoon 🚀🐾
AstroPets is a low-poly sci-fi tycoon where you build up your base, explore different biomes, collect resources, fight and capture wild creatures, and upgrade your pet into a real part of your progression.
Sorry I’ve been MIA on socials. I’ve been super busy getting ready to move from California to Colorado, but I’ve still been grinding this whenever I can 😅
One of the biggest goals for this game is performance. The whole game is built around a clean low-poly style, and the NPCs/creatures use static meshes with VAT animations instead of heavier character setups, so it can stay smooth across all platforms, including mobile.
This clip shows some early work on:
custom items + weapons (way more to come)
combat systems
pet companion mechanics
pet commands like move, attack, harvest, and scan
resource harvesting/scanning
transforming into mech mode by merging with your pet 🤖
I’m trying to make the pet feel like more than just a cosmetic. It helps you explore, fight, gather, fill out your collection, and eventually becomes part of your mech.
Also, no experimental items are in the map as of now, so I should be able to publish it for everyone to try once it’s ready.
More reveals soon. Hoping to have an alpha out by Unreal Fest but I barely done any work on my UI🙏

I created a solar system simulation in #UEFN using Scene Graph! It's a true n-body physics simulation, meaning everything is calculated live using Newton's laws of motion and real astronomical data 🚀
I recreated the “Fortnite Battlepass Set Complete” aesthetic in UEFN just to see how much effort it would take. Not perfected yet but pretty good stab. #uefn

Animated meshes now carry the players along in all directions and even rotations work now too!, and it's all so smooth as well so none of that former jank.

First: UEFN Substance Bridge is now open source!
Paint in Substance → see it update in UEFN.
It handles FBX import/spawn, PBR materials, smart texture sync and material-slot matching, so you don’t have to keep exporting/importing over and over again. You're welcome
