Coach K shares what it actually takes to get better.
"In order to get better, you change limits."
"When you change limits, you're going to look bad and you're going to fail."
Growth requires pushing past what's comfortable.
And that means you're going to stumble. You're going to look like you don't know what you're doing. That's not a sign you're on the wrong path - it's proof you're on the right one.
Coach K would always emphasize: Failure isn't a destination. It's a checkpoint.
It takes grit to keep going. Courage to try again. And the willingness to endure when it would be easier to quit.
The only way to expand your limits is to test them. (🎥Bloomberg)

Nick Saban on why adversity isn't the obstacle - it's the requirement.
🎯Most people treat adversity like a detour. Something to avoid. Something to survive until conditions improve.
Saban sees it differently.
"Life is difficult. This camp will be difficult. But you have to overcome adversity if you're going to have a chance to be successful in your life."
Not might have to. Have to.
You're going to have to earn it. Listen to his next line.
"There can be no great victories in your life unless you can overcome adversity. You can't be a great competitor unless you can overcome adversity."
No great victories.
📌That's not a motivational line. That's a law.
And here's the part most people miss:
"That's mental. It has nothing to do with physical ability."
Physical ability is given. Mental toughness is built. And the only way to build it is to go through something hard - and choose not to quit.
The adversity isn't in the way. The adversity is the way.
You don't find out who you are when things are easy.
You find out when they're hard and you keep going anyway.
Great victories don't come without great resistance.
That's not a coincidence - it's by design.
Best of luck to alumni Reegan Hiscock who’s at @FlaPanthers development camp! After a 3 year @NLU18MHL career Reegan sits 17th all time in league scoring!
NHL statement:
“The League has completed its review of Mike Babcock’s tenure in Columbus, and of certain alleged conduct associated therewith. Our investigation has concluded that, even in a light least favorable to Mr. Babcock, there is no current basis to restrict his employment in the League.”
It’s not always obvious.
Mental health struggles are often hidden - by stigma, by fear, by survival.
Over time, people can become really good at masking what they’re going through.
Sometimes, hiding it feels easier than explaining it.

Claude Lemieux's family say that they've chosen to donate his brain to the UNITE Brain Bank at the Boston University CTE Center for research into the long-term effects of repetitive head impacts and traumatic brain injury.
"The family emphasizes that this decision is a gift to science, to athletes and to future generations of families seeking answers. No conclusion should be drawn at this time regarding any diagnosis."
Touching statement from Brendan Lemieux.
The family revealed Claude Lemieux’s brain has been donated to @BU_CTE’s study. “No conclusions should be drawn at this time.”
Sad that in such a trying, tragic time their privacy has been violated by trash, attention-seeking content.
Mental illness doesn't care how successful you are.
It doesn't care how tough you are.
It doesn't care how many championships you've won.
Sometimes the strongest people are fighting battles nobody can see.

Just heard the news on #ClaudeLemieux
This is extremely sad no matter what feelings from past or present you hold. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and people who got to see the person off the ice wasn’t the person on. As I’ve said and will always call it as I see it
“If your on the ICE with Claude Lemieux and your turn your back. YOU Are an IDIOT.
But off the ICE I’ll turn mine”
And please. If you are struggling at all please reach out and talk to someone
Godspeed my friend
Hedman did not have to put this statement out. It's going to create controversy and negative opinions.
That's why it's so important that he did.
Yeah they make millions - but being a professional athlete is hard. The constant judgment from other people is one thing, but the constant pursuit of being great is even harder. Other people's expectations do not even come close to comparing to how hard these players are on themselves.
And when these types of high achievers get older, it's not just trying to be the best player they can be. It's striving to be the best husband, dad, friend etc they can be on top of that. That load can be exhausting.
You can't be of service to others without taking care of yourself first. If you're the best you can be, you'll be able to lead way better than if you're mentally and emotionally not at where you want to be.
This post will no doubt get other people who want to achieve big things to be more willing to ask for help. That in itself makes it powerful and impactful.
