@B2456047696797B@they_had_names@TraceyOMahony81 Us Irish were immigrants too. Granted, we worked hard wherever we went and got nothing handed to us but we were still immigrants. So it's important to bear that in mind too.
@B2456047696797B@they_had_names@TraceyOMahony81 I have no problem with people coming to work here and contribute towards our economy. If they work and pay taxes, then I don't see the harm. But it's the ones who come looking for handouts and don't assimilate or respect our culture, then that's a problem.
@they_had_names@TraceyOMahony81 I know what you're saying and agree. However, if we implement the working visa law like Australia, the numbers coming in would be far more manageable.
@TraceyOMahony81@they_had_names Ireland needs to have tighter, stricter immigration laws like Australia. You need to have a work visa to stay here and the government should have a one-strike policy. If you commit a crime, you and your family should be deported.
@TraceyOMahony81@they_had_names I don't mind people coming here to start a new life, to work and contribute towards our economy. But those who come here, sponge off the government and Irish taxpayers, should be deported if they're here for more than 12 months and have not done courses or got a job.
@aoifeh1916 I agree but if you say this to the common and uninformed man and woman on the street, they will think you're weird or racist. It's infuriating.
@Nic21121970 This is shocking! I know the school will probably say it's a "cost-cutting initiative" or something like that. But it does make you wonder, a) do the adults actually give a shit about kids anymore and b) have they two brain cells between them? It's a disaster waiting to happen.
@KadieEditsFilm I kind of feel the same way. I have seven or eight books out but I just grow tired of trying to promote them, trying to get an email list etc. It sucks the joy out of it so I may pack it in after I release the last book in my YA fantasy series next year.
