Maybe someday I'll start engaging on x like i do on reddit, and maybe that day I'll stop talking to myself here...and have some engagement and motivation so I don't forget logs
Till then..
@AkshajRawa91105 Hi bro.. can't DM due to an issue. Loved your GSoC ’26 work with Joplin, when did you start contributing? Also, how do you pick up practical skills outside core languages (e.g., debugging CI/build failures)? Mind if I ask a few follow-ups in a thread since word limits apply?
i wanted help regarding how do you guys used to tackle the CI build failing, as i fix the issue but the CI build fails when i fix the CI the code has some probelm according to copilot
many things have happened since my last post, just now i applied for something for the first time in my life, LFX mentorship, i have been contributing to many orgs these past few months so i applied to one of them
@KumarNirupam1 you once reviewed one of my prs on animating meshery architecture, i have been seeing you around cncf codebases since then, so i thought to ask, as you clearly seem to have more experinece than me in this, given that im in first year rn, pls reply.....
@KumarNirupam1 how do you find issues since i have seen you always seem to work on issues raised by you most of the time, i always rely on getting it assigned after someone leaves it and doesnt work on it,
Merged another PR, this time in a Kubernetes repo.
The fear never fully goes away. You just open the PR anyway and let reviewers tell you if you're wrong.
Turns out they don't reject you for not knowing everything. They guide you.
Small contribution, big lesson.
#OpenSource
Shipped a CI pipeline for my Go URL shortener with GitHub Actions.
Every push now auto-runs:
→ go build
→ go test
→ docker build
Plus branch protection so broken code can't merge to main.
Phase 3/9 of my DevOps roadmap done.
#LearningInPublic
Dockerized my Go URL shortener , image went from ~800MB to 25MB with multi-stage builds.
Learned: EXPOSE ≠ publishing a port
This is phase 2 of what i am learning these days
