@malphier The man is a salesman. He says whatever will sell his games. He's decently good at it too, if sales records of the earlier games are any indication.
It's just that folks started to listen to what he's saying some time ago and by now the bullshit sticks out like a sore thumb.

At last, I made it to Tomonobu Itagaki’s resting place.
Farewell, my comrade-in-arms. You’re probably still fighting something even in the afterlife — but please rest well.
I’ll keep fighting a little longer here.
@lutyrannus Most of the folks that I saw using unsafe camps either didn't really have other camps up, or were folks using the one mod that made them indestructible.
There's better solutions than just removing it, but even though I like the mechanic I do feel it had a flawed implementation.
@lutyrannus Either the camp blows up and you happen to not need it at the time because what you're hunting doesn't really go around there so you just wait and forget about it, or you have it blow up shortly before you need it... and then just pay the relatively small fee to insta-repair.

Capcom deciding to sand it off ends up being more of a token gesture when I find most of the playerbase didn't even really engage with the mechanic in a meaningful way. And that's coming from someone who likes the mechanic itself.
If I'm going to be entirely honest the mechanic wasn't as meaningful as folks make it out to be. The idea of the camp getting destroyed is far more 'flavorful' than the actual consequence, since the camp either gets blown up when you don't even need it or -
its funny that this feature that promoted you to explore, care more about camp placement was basically removed cus people kept cryn about it
ask and you shall receive. friction isn't just monsters people, begging for things like this to be removed is asking the game to be easier
gets blown up when you do and then you pay to have it repaired instantly.
And truthfully, most folks would default to the safe camps, unsafe camps were mostly used by folks who either weren't paying a lot of attention or those who used mods to make them indestructible.
