Day 99: Solopreneur ride along @smoothapp
Got my first subscriber. After doing organic marketing, studying usage and changing revenue plans to give users what they want, I think I have reached a stable point. May be safe to run ads from here on out
Day 8: Solopreneur ride along @smoothapp
Rewrote onboarding. Users can now try a conversation before they create an account. Let’s see if this helps with the numbers

Day 7: Solopreneur ride along @smoothapp
Going through analytics I have found a big drop off between first open and sign up. I believe users don’t want to create an account on an app without first trying it out. I will have to probably solve for this

Day 6: Solopreneur ride along.
Today went into engagement farming on reddit and warming up social media accounts. My mistake was to not have already done this beforehand and been ready. Oh well…
The app is called https://t.co/XEQFzkwLOY. It lets you practice conversations you're dreading — salary negotiations, sales calls, difficult personal talks by roleplaying them before they actually happen. You get coached in real time while you're in the conversation, pointing out where you're caving too quickly or coming across too harsh, so your next message is already better.

Day 4: Solopreneur ride along.
Analytics report 50 users created an account, 3 deleted and a total of 60 conversations. Safe to say at least every user tried 1 conversation. The majority of usage seems to be in negotiating salary.

Day 3: Solopreneur ride along.
I am going to try to document my journey with launching my own apps. I will do my best to stay consistent.
It is day 3 since I launched https://t.co/XEQFzkwLOY. The launch itself happend on @ProductHunt after which I made a few posts on indie subreddits.
Some things I learnt and changed:
- $15 was too high a price point for monthly subscription. I have changed that and I am now experimenting with $10
- I had kept detailed conversation analytics behind a paywall but users wouldn't know what was available without seeing it once. Complete conversation analytics can now be seen only once in the onboarding flow
- Most users opted to try out asking someone out on a date closely followed by asking boss for a raise or negotiate their salary

in about 6 hours, Smooth Operator goes live on Product Hunt
an AI app that lets you practice difficult conversations before they happen
— salary negotiations
— tough workplace talks
— dating scenarios
— setting boundaries
built this solo over the last few months. genuinely nervous.
more soon 👇
3 hours into the Product Hunt launch and something interesting:
the most popular scenario people are trying first isn't salary negotiation (which i expected)
it's practising dating app matches. From a "hello" to "let's grab coffee"
people want to practice the conversations they're most afraid of. makes sense when you think about it.
still live on PH if you want to try it → https://t.co/8P0Aa94SYe
