My great uncles were drafted. Three of them. My grandfather was as well but he was the head of his family and taking care of his younger siblings so they discharged him. Then my god father enlisted in 1991 and retired in 2016. He was deployed in Afghanistan after 9/11

Hot take that I didn’t know was a hot take: you can show appreciation to soldiers without supporting war. Soldiers don’t choose the wars, most go into service because they have no other choice or genuinely want to protect their country. Hope this helps.
