For years, this administration played Sherlock Holmes, chasing “stolen money” of Rajapaksa’s with zero proof . Yet, while they were busy playing detective, they became the actual thieves of the people’s money.
In a matter of hours, the cost of their incompetence has surfaced:
$600k missing from Sri Lanka Post.
$2.5M siphoned from the Treasury by hackers.
Rs. 380M misdirected by the RDA, with Rs. 51M still unrecovered.
Rs. 13.2B looted from NDB and the Government and the Central Bank didn't detect a thing.
It seems the version of a "Clean Sri Lanka" is the total opposite of what the public expected.
Accusations are easy; governance is hard.
The issue is no longer politics it is trust, competence, and accountability.
And that is what is now in question.
#GovernanceFail
Imagine if TVK wins & ADMK and DMK forming an alliance and forming a govt.
2.5 yrs each Stalin and EPS.
50 years of two "ideology" turned into a shared Netflix password because they’re terrified of a movie star's box office.
Politics raja... politics
Why do MPs pay ~ Rs.7,500+ in APIT (income tax) while others pay Rs.55,000+ for the same salary?
⭕️ MP Ramanathan Archchuna has publicly shared his Parliament salary slip for March 2026, stating that the public should be aware of the earnings received by Members of Parliament.
⭕️ According to the document shared by the MP, the gross monthly salary and allowances amounted to Rs. 415,169.93. After deductions totaling Rs. 19,308.71, the net salary credited to his account was Rs. 395,861.22.
⭕️ One of the clear differences comes from APIT. For a gross salary of Rs. 415,169.93, anyone working in the private or government sector would typically pay Rs. 55,000+ in taxes, but MPs pay only around Rs. 7,500+. The reason is that the government at the time has effectivitly creating a different tax structure for MPs.
So, how is taxable income calculated when it comes to MPs and higher-ranking government officials?
⭕️ The new 36% maximum APIT income tax system came into effect in January 2023, and MPs initially paid taxes on their income just like any other taxpayer.
⭕️ However, in the very next month (February 2023), the IRD introduced an amendment related to non-cash benefits. This was designed in a way that significantly favored MPs: under the amendment, only 25% of their vehicle, fuel, and communication allowances are considered taxable.
⭕️ As a result, MPs’ tax liability dropped from around Rs. 76,000 to about Rs. 17,000, while virtually nothing changed for regular taxpayers.
⭕️ With the 2025 revision of the tax code, particularly the elimination of the 12% tax bracket, the tax liability for MPs was further reduced to around Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 7,500, while others earning a similar income continue to pay over Rs. 55,000.

We're not going to travel beyond the solar system, according to Leonard Susskind. And neither are aliens, coming to visit us.
We may not be alone, but we are stuck here for, essentially forever.
1. The nearest star is 4.24 light years away. The fastest spacecraft ever built would require 6,600 years to get there.
2. Surely we can just build faster spacecraft. The problem is to get to anywhere close to the speed of light, we need exponentially more energy.
3. Chemical rockets will just not work. Even fusion rockets won't work. Even 10% of the speed of light is not achievable. The Tsiolkovsky Rocket Equation prevents it.
4. Interstellar dust becomes hand grenades when traveling anywhere close to the speed of light. Ships break.
5. Space radiation will kill us over the time need to travel interstellar distances. Impossible to protect without massive shields, which require massive energy to accelerate and de-accelerate.
A suspect has been arrested by the Special Investigation Division of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) for allegedly defrauding more than Rs. 10 million by promising foreign employment opportunities in Albania and Canada.
The woman had operated under the name “Global Educare Consultancy” in Maharagama, posing as a student visa service provider while collecting money from individuals on the promise of securing overseas jobs.
Investigations by the SLBFE revealed that she had deceived multiple individuals from different parts of the country, with total losses exceeding Rs. 10 million based on complaints received.
Officials from the bureau’s Special Investigations Unit raided the premises, which was operating without a valid licence, and seized several documents, including purported employment agreements.
The suspect was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court and remanded until Thursday (09).
In a separate operation, SLBFE investigators raided an institution operating under the name “ASPA” in Meerigama following complaints that money was being collected for jobs in Japan.
An undercover officer was deployed in the operation, leading to the arrest of a woman from Minuwangoda and a man from Ja-Ela. (NewsWire)
