The @aiu_athletics is appealing the decision to clear the US Olympian Erriyon Knighton of wrongdoing. An arbitrator accepted that he ate steroid-contaminated oxtail.
Interesting to note his manager, Ramon Clay, was banned as part of the BALCO scandal for using steroids.
Serbia might have just had the drunkest podium appearance in Olympics history. Here's the story in many parts. right after the game singing "Currys on fire" (I assume to meme their grandfatherly coach blurting this out in a TO in broken English at some pt) https://t.co/q5YF4DawRL
Of course, the whole circus would have been avoided if Thomas Bach had announced he was not standing at the @iocmedia Session in Mumbai last October when it was first suggested he serve another term. But he didn’t because he originally thought it was a good idea (and had had the original question planted, of course). He could also have ended the speculation at the opening of this Session before the @Olympics at @Paris2024 but did not because he still had not ruled it out. But after two weeks of being publicly mocked around the world for not being able to tell the difference between a man and a woman he has now decided term limits should be respected. Devious to the very end.
Also on Salwa Eid Nasar some excerpts from the CAS finding
The first a litany of the various ways that she evaded testers - a non existent building being my favourite - but secondly how they viewed her evidence
What is unfair is her competing in #Paris2024
The @iocmedia President Thomas Bach did not attend the final of the @Olympics#Boxing final at @Paris2024 despite having spent nearly two weeks defending Imane Khelif. But @AcnoaAnoca President Mustapha Berraf, who is Algerian, was there. Last October, it was Berraf who had first raised the idea of Bach staying on as head of the IOC when his current 12-year term ends next year, even though this is against the Olympic Charter. I will let you draw your own conclusions.
A common theme seems to be retired athletes who had very little to say on the subject during their careers and are now beyond the statute of limitations suddenly becoming in favour of increasing testing and longer (or lifetime) bans ...
Keep in mind, this woman’s husband bought her EPO from me. Not a surprise French sports bureaucrats find that inconvenient. @lequipe and others widely reported it. #doping#Paris2024
Have seen a few performances at these #ParisOlympics, which make me wonder: Is the re-testing of doping samples a few years after the Games still on the #IOC agenda, @iocmedia?
