I scraped 282 tweets from 7 top indie hackers (8K to 914K followers) to reverse-engineer how they grow on X.
The finding nobody wants to hear: replies don't grow accounts. Not one of them grew from replying.
What the data actually says π
@EnoReyes Funny timing, half my feed today is people dropping Kimi K3 into Claude Code with zero code change. Switching costs really are basically gone.
@RoundtableSpace The asset generation is the part that blows my mind, that's always been the wall for solo game devs. Is it actually playable or just a tech demo?
@and__dre This is the thing nobody believes until they try it. I ship native iOS solo with Claude Code, no team. How long did the rebuild actually take you?
Every strong open model release does this. Capacity maxes out days after launch because people actually run it. More capable open models don't cut AI hardware demand, they multiply it. Same reason $MU $NVDA $AVGO keep printing. Kimi K3 just proved it again.
Kimi K3 has received far more love than we expected, and our GPUs are feeling it.
Over the past 48 hours, demand has pushed close to the limits of our current capacity. To protect the experience of existing subscribers, we're temporarily pausing new subscriptions and prioritizing compute for current members. Existing subscribed users are not affected.
We're adding capacity as fast as we can and will reopen new subscription spots in batches.
Going forward, we'll also split membership into two more focused plans: Kimi Membership for Kimi Web, App, and Work; and Kimi Code Membership for coding workflows. This will help us match compute more precisely and keep the experience stable.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!
@mynameisyahia Scraped 282 tweets from 7 indie hackers (8Kβ914K followers) to test exactly this. None of them grew from replying or volume β every one grew the same way: original artifact posts, then tending the replies for hours. Median reply earns 1β7 likes. Median original post: up to 1,248.

How they actually grow β all 7, same loop:
1. Post an artifact: a data map, a demo video, a cost breakdown, a story
2. Inbound floods in
3. Tend it for hours β answer every correction fast, flat, factual
The post is the opportunity. Replies are the harvest.
Itβs been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). Iβm reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS, indeterminate dendritic cell histiocytosis or other (non-LCH) histiocytic sarcomas cases.
I'm trying to understand non-surgical chemo and targeted therapy options, new pathology markers to better diagnose subtypes/treatments, and any data on progression in pediatric patients. Please feel free to share β Iβm trying to cast a wide net due to the rarity of this condition and how little is known.
