The University of Ica has formally requested that the Ministry of Culture grant it legal custody and begin the cultural heritage designation process for Montserrat, Santiago, Sebastian, Paloma, Antonio, and Jois.

This would allow public display of the specimens, improve access to research facilities, and open the door for the global scientific community to study them directly at the University of Ica.

The Ministry of Culture has 30 days to issue an initial response.
