@crispycreamie omg yes! luckily most of the products are the same (also supermarkets have NZ stuff in the international section) but I miss my fav juice brand and worst of all they don’t really have streaky bacon here, it’s all middle bacon 🥲

@crispycreamie no I 100% get what you mean and that’s exactly right!! culturally it’s so similar (similar slang/cultural norms/personalities/even the same shops) but also so different?? its obvs much bigger geographically and also much busier, the population of Melbourne = all of NZ

@crispycreamie I love the custard!! I actually don’t really like raisins but I will eat a really good traditional hot cross bun from a bakery bc they add things like orange peel/more spices.. the grocery ones are a bit bland

@crispycreamie also lots of bakeries in NZ try to win the annual best hot cross bun award! it’s also become popular to have custard as the x on the bun which is *chef’s kiss*

@crispycreamie I am not in the US but just adding that hot cross buns are big in NZ/AU and there’s lots of flavours other than the traditional! There’s also fruitless (boring), chocolate, apple and cinnamon, biscoff, savory flavours like pizza?? And Vegemite??
