“You must stand on the cliff of death to understand your purpose in life. It’s the only place where you can see it.” Mo, Yellowstone.
I love this…
Mo, a Lakota warrior is taking Kayce, a non indigenous cowboy through a warrior initiation in the Netflix series, Yellowstone.
Four days and four nights in the wilderness with no food or water. An invitation to receive truth from animal spirits, to face ultimate fears and break through into a clarity and depth of purpose for this lifetime.
But how do we in the modern world make sense of this?
Everything starts and ends with purpose
To reveal your true purpose in life IS the journey of life. It can help you articulate the truth of who you are and from this place you decide and take action.
There is a however a paradigm shift between our post modern view of purpose; connecting to values, deciding what is most important from our individual sense of self and then acting from that place, inside, out…and initiatory purpose, a clarity of knowing that is only revealed through surrender, deconstruction and insight.
Initiatory purpose requires the dissolution of our rigid sense of self in service of the wisdom of the greater whole.
This is outside, in.
It is the result of crossing a threshold into a deeper truth informed by the hero’s journey.
Four days and nights in the wilderness is a life changing and courageous journey which must be held within a strong indigenous context.
For those of us who do not have access to this we can also engage our courage and search for the truth by embracing an approach that also supports us to be still, to connect, to step back from our total identification with our personal selves and listen to the still small voice within and without that is always calling us forward.
We must also surrender to a bigger truth in service of the wisdom of life itself.
This is what Third Rock thriving is all about.
This is where magic really happens…

@DaveHcontrarian Hi Dave, please can you explain why your GDX and GDXJ forecasts have stayed the same whilst your gold forecasts have increased. Is there some sort of structural ceiling to how far the mining stocks can offer a leveraged play over the underlying metal? Thanks!
@sabrina53009376@DaveHcontrarian@Caveatlector12@sesquipedaling@TheFountainhea5@Panditha44 Hi Dave, please can you explain your reasoning for not increasing your GDX and GDXJ forecasts when you’ve increased your gold forecast several times. Is there some structural ceiling for mining stocks where they stop offering a leveraged opportunity over the underlying metal? TY
Such a critically important point Leigh and one that hardly gets a mention. A strong, flexible ego that can act fully in the world with clear, compassionate boundaries is an essential part of the spiritual journey. The more we heal our egoic wounding at the level of the personal, the more we can surrender and open to transpersonal energies. And the more we open to transpersonal energies the more we reveal our wounding at the personal!
Are you following the rhythms of nature or caught in the machine?
Modern life is always calling us to DO more, BE more, to embrace some false sense of linearity so that what we yearn for is always just over the horizon.
We say to ourselves 'Keep going, I'll be happy when I get there' and then we suffer when we don't.
Nature works differently.
In nature there is no future place where everything is perfect. Nature is always perfect in the emergent dance of its moment by moment unfolding…and guess what?
So are you.
Remember this one thing today…
You are part of the web of life, not separate from it.
Remember this and you allow the natural ebb and flow of life to unfold,
Remember this and your individual energy, focus and engagement unfolds naturally also.
As without, so within. As within, so without.
Remember this and know you are home.
Thanks Ruth, and yes it does appear to be the case. Thousands of years of human history has been defined by the arising and falling of civilisations. Within a wider life perspective we can view this as the ever unfolding of the natural law of ebb and flow that permeates all of creation. My sense that is the hubris of humanity that tethers us to the illusion that we are actually in control. When we relinquish this and surrender to the spiral dynamics of the evolutionary process, endings and beginnings become merely partners in the perennial dance that is life itself.
If you want some perspective, zoom out with me for a moment…
Over thousands of years us humans have gradually separated ourselves from the deep connection to the rest of life, the last 300 years has seen an exponential disconnection.
Now in terms of human evolution, this has been phenomenally successful.
Our intellect, innovations and ability to manipulate our environment has placed us at the apex of evolution on earth.
I deeply believe now that the next turn of the human evolutionary spiral is for us to BOTH continue to embrace all our intellectual, innovative and creative awakening AND to reconnect deeply to the web of life.
This is a deeply spiritual and deeply practical invitation from life itself as we remember how to nurture our fecundity within the complexity of nature.
It's March 17th. That means it's St Patrick's Day!
A national holiday like no other, embraced worldwide like no other.
Today is the day when everyone wants to be Irish.
So why is that?
Once we get underneath the popular culture of guinness drinking, Irish music and dancing and leprechaun silly green hat wearing, (all great craic by the way!), we can get to the heart of what Ireland offers the world...
For me, it is the soul of the country that is still visible and tangible, especially in the more elemental west coast and particularly in Donegal where I live.
It feels like all we need to do is scratch the surface of the soil in the mountains or listen to the tumbling water in the babbling brook and we can reveal the ancient celtic ways that deeply connected human beings to the cycles of nature.
For me, Paddy's Day is a celebration of this, the ancient folk law, the indomitable spirit of the clans, the groundedness and humour of the people, the mystical druidic traditions and the depth of knowing that we must remember if we are to thrive on this amazing planet we call home.
We are all Irish today because we are all human beings doing our best to return home to the depths of who we truly are...
...oh and go on, have a Guinness too!
Happy St Patrick's Day one and all!
@ThistleThorn_TT Beautifully put Marina, I think its all about living the timeless paradox of the constant evolution of ourselves and the planet and the absolute truth that we only truly have this moment.
What if you were told you only had 10 years left?
Long enough to feel like long time (and avoid being triggered into fight/flight and reactive thinking) and short enough to feel limited (and galvanise your will and sense of purpose).
What would you say 'Yes' and 'No' to?
@ruthblooming Really great distinction Ruth, to be already worthy as we grow, for me, captures the depths of Wu Wei, the taoist concept of effortless living.
@miamtusum Bless you Hellen, thank you so much. Your words and your voice have such beauty and lightness. Just keep doing what you are doing! My following list has got way too big so am gradually rebalancing. When I'm able to add more, you will be the first!
@Lightof_Ikara Wonderful Ikara, what a fabulous way of describing the literal birthing of a new turn of the spiral. It is so important to pendulate between being with the turmoil and then the stillness that pervades all of creation.
If you are fearful and overwhelmed by world events then it means you are human, you care
Fear, overwhelm and dissociation are actually sane responses to an insane world.
It's the protective nature of our nervous system.
But it can keep you paralysed and unable to act unless you balance this with connecting with the 'other than human' world…
Stop, sit in nature, breathe and come to your senses...
And know now you are part of this timeless life.
