There are so many underrated gems on Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, like "Every Time I Look for You," "Online Songs," and "Story of a Lonely Guy." But "What Went Wrong," a bonus track on the yellow pants edition, is just an outstanding deep cut. Really wish it was on streaming.
My main takeaway from Olivia Rodrigo's appearance on NYT's Popcast was that she referenced The Cure, New Order, and Depeche Mode when discussing new music. Refreshingly, several songs on "you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love" genuinely evoke '80s alternative & new wave.
An all-new edition of The Baker's Dozen featuring 13 of my favourite songs from the first half of 2026, including new Blusher, The Lemon Twigs, MUNA, Charli, and Olivia Rodrigo, a standout from Iceman, a deep cut from Halsey, and more. Baked to perfection.

I've come to realize the intros to "Dance, Dance" by Fall Out Boy and "Everything's Magic" by Angels & Airwaves are virtually the same. Same drum progression. Same vibe. Both still bangers, 20 years on.
Great article + playlist! Oppenheimer Analysis was new to me and I'm thankful to have been put onto them. Don't Be Seen With Me absolutely slaps. I've noticed this trend too... For example, the premiere of @HBO's Rooster opens with New Order's timeless track Age of Consent.
MUNA are back, in a big way. “Dancing On The Wall” is irresistibly catchy and undeniably danceable – neon, hooky synth-pop and a massive rush of euphoric indie pop. Filling a very specific mid-2010s Haim and The 1975-shaped void. 10/10
