This is the world’s first height-adjustable crane system. It was developed by Hutchinson Builders for the Brisbane Skytower project.
The crane system allowed compliance with aviation by being lowered each night below the maximum permitted height of 274 m.
This automated robot, developed by Social Construct, is printing instructions on the job site.
Social Construct is developing AI tools to optimise & automate the design of buildings whilst maintaining the flexibility of being able to make changes to suit actual site dimensions.
As a result, on-site staff could be reduced from 50 to 22 people and floor cycle time from 5 to 2 days, and live edge work was eliminated. Other benefits include quality improvement, reduction in waste and reduced site traffic.
The Holiday Inn Express Hotel, Little Collins was built using a precast modular core developed by TTW and Hickory and provides a core with similar stiffness and strength to a traditional in-situ core without the use of a jumpform.
The first 8 floors were built using traditional post-tensioned insitu slabs whilst the remaining floors were built from precast concrete planks. These had preinstalled façade panels & services allowing them to be rapidly installed and then joined using post-tensioned cables.

The site under construction is the university's new innovation precinct, Exchange. Preliminary reports are that two of the men were working on a boom lift when the collapse occurred, causing them to fall 20 metres. The cause of the collapse remains unclear.
