#InsideTheMatch
Survived my first full rotation of residency. So much growth occurred over these last couple of months that I’m just so proud and in disbelief that this is really me. I’m really doing it. 🥹
Diagnosis of jaundice can be difficult on darker skin. An NHS report shows that medical devices are more accurate than visual assessments for detecting jaundice in all babies, particularly babies with Black, Brown or darker skin.
Physical examination has always been the first diagnostic approach for jaundice. Yet, research highlights the current lack of training for healthcare professionals, including a lack of appropriate training materials, such as images of how skin colour changes appear on minority ethnic babies – which compounds these issues.
To enhance outcomes and quality of life for babies with jaundice, it is imperative to use resources that are highly representative. This includes educating families and providing comprehensive training for health workers.

@BurndMid@arghavan_salles As a first gen - I did shadow attendings. Never once did they say anything about residency or the match. I even worked in a hospital for 2 years before med school and when I would try to give something to a resident they would tell me to just give it to a diff doctor (attending)
