This was my first shop unit I rented just over 10 years ago..

Just over 500sqf...it cost me £100 per week with utilities included. No business rates or service charges ect. It was 1 minutes walk from the town centre. I built the entire foundation of my current business out of here from scratch.

A unit this size would cost double.. maybe triple that now if you add in all utilities,rates ect that I had included.

This is why the high street is dead..new businesses don't stand a chance. Most fail before the first year is out. @andyburnham

I own a small 24/7 Gym in the north of England ...this is how much it roughly costs to run.

Rent: £2500pm
Electric: £200pm
Gas: £100pm (average)
Water:£30pm
Insurance: £70pm
Website/sign-up forms: £30pm
PT booking system: £40pm
Internet: £50pm

This is before things like new equipment, equipment servicing, toilet rolls, cleaning supplies ect

It's well over £3000 per month before iv started taking a wage and paid tax ect. This is obviously very modest compared to some businesses but it is all relative of course.

Sometimes I do wish I embraced the 9-5 life 😂.

Nobody should be relying on a state pension.

Stop overspending on unnecessary things and invest in an ISA or SIPP.

If your under 40 start this now and future you won't struggle.

Think smart people...don't be a dummy.

Mortgage -£1300
Council tax - £260
Gas/electric - £300
Water - £60
Car finance for the family car - £300
Car insurance - £55
0% interest loan from parents - £500 - (one off bill that was out of our control 🤷)

£2830

We have 3 kids.. this is before we eat, buy clothes, save/invest, pay personal bills (phones ect) or do anything fun at all in life.

Me and my partner depend on each other financially.
