Also, coyotes are opportunistic predators, so they will mostly go for low-risk attacks. This includes small children and pets, so DO NOT LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED WHEN IN COYOTE-DENSE AREAS. This is not the coyotes fault; we must take caution when in their territory.

Although coyotes are timid in nature, these actions will lead to more bold behaviors by coyotes, and will most likely lead to an increase in the level of encounters. This raises the chances of attacks by coyotes!

We need to fix the perception problem of coyotes. Coyotes can't be treated the same as domestic animals.

But we cannot villainize them, as they are only acting out of survival. And by their nature, they are quite skittish and have a high sense of self-preservation.

It is a proven fact that coyotes have a negative reputation, but is it justified? This study found that out of 1302 participants, 58.8% were concerned about the perceived danger of coyotes, with 26.2% of the total being "extremely concerned".

Some methods include making loud noise and making yourself look big to intimidate the coyote, or to even use projectiles such as sticks or rocks to scare it away! Of course, these methods are meant to be non-lethal to coyotes.
