People talk about gender like it’s a political football, but I’ve got a trans kid who can’t change their name or travel to a red state or update their passport or driver’s license right now for fear of being harassed by the government. I’m not saying it should be the main focus of the party’s platform, but let’s stop making it the issue (in addition to guns!) for progressive heterodoxy.
I am asking my fellow Republican and Democratic Governors across the nation to have a unified response.
We must all stand against the lawlessness being inflicted in our states.
I was a kid once. And my biggest regret in life is that I never got a childhood without pain.
Politicians should never insert themselves into the personal health care decisions of patients, parents, and their providers—and that includes trans Americans.
Human Rights Campaign president Kelley Robinson, on Spanberger winning after deluge of GOP trans ads:
"Voters weren’t fooled by millions of dollars in cruel, transphobic ads and sent a message that they want real leadership that delivers results for their lives and livelihoods, not tired hate, division, and chaos."
When do we get a retraction from The Wall Street Journal for erroneously claiming the assassination was related to trans people? When do we get apologies from every journalist who spread that disinformation?
"Trump, a convicted criminal who pardoned 400 violent felons who assaulted police officers in his name, on Monday announced he's deploying National Guard troops and seizing control of the capital city’s police force" to deal w/ the *declining* crime rate. https://t.co/BT4tJmDIAH
As you listen to an unhinged Trump try to justify deploying the National Guard in DC, here's reality:
Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low.

We did this to him. This government. This country. We condemned him to this torture because he dared to follow our own laws and seek refuge here.
Utterly sick.
I am heartbroken and horrified by the tragic loss of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, who were taken from us in an act of violence.
Melissa was a good friend and we started in politics at the same time and were always there for each other. She was a true public servant to the core, dedicating her life to serving Minnesotans with integrity and compassion. Melissa’s legacy will endure, but today we grieve deeply. John’s and my prayers are with their children, their loved ones, and all who are mourning this devastating loss.
When I was an intern at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, I was briefly on the obituary desk. I, for some reason, never imagined I'd write an obituary for my own mother one day.
The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that the United States government must return Kilmar Abrego Garcia home from prison in El Salvador. Donald Trump is blatantly ignoring and denying the ruling. Yes, we are in a constitutional crisis.
It’s so disturbing how definitively Trump has ripped the mask off the right wing’s disdain for our Constitution.
We’ve been rocketed back to a time when there’s zero shame for openly declaring that freedom should be reserved only for those deemed obedient and worthy.
Today and every year on March 31, we observe Transgender Day of Visibility.
We honor the strength, courage, and resilience of transgender people and the transgender community.
We see you, we stand with you, and we will continue to support you. 🩵🩷
The story of transgender Michiganders is one of authenticity and resilience.
This Trans Day of Visibility, I want the community to know that I am, and will always be, fiercely committed to building a Michigan where every person has the freedom and safety to be who they are.
Happy Transgender Day of Visibility.
To the Transgender community in Illinois and around the country: You deserve to live your life proudly and openly. We see you and we will protect you.
On Transgender Day of Visibility, we celebrate Minnesota’s transgender community and recommit to standing up for our neighbors in the face of hatred.
As your Governor, I’m proud to stand in this fight with you.
