I agree with Bezos - nurses making under $100K should not pay taxes.
The tax system is designed to incentivize the correct behavior (or behavior the government wants.)
We shouldn’t try to under-incentivize people from becoming billionaires.
Instead we should incentive the front line workers who sacrifice a more high paying career to do the what makes a significant difference in society.
Instead of focusing on competitors…
Focus on building something great for your customers, your employees, and your family.
Then competitors become irrelevant.
The 3 jobs of a CEO:
1.Get the right people and set the culture
2.Make sure decisions stay connected to customers and the market
3.Raise the bar on execution — push the team to do the uncomfortable stuff
Simple in concept. Hard to actually do every day.
If you’re obsessed with acquiring customers, you’ll lose them to the companies obsessed with keeping them.
If you’re obsessed with keeping them, you won’t have to worry about acquiring them.
Walt Disney said it takes 39 magical moments to make up for 1 tragic moment.
Something to think about every time a customer interacts with your business.
There’s two ways to be significant in life:
1. Work your ass off and grow and take risks and go through the injustice of life that we all go through
2. Tear everybody else down and have the illusion that if they’re going down, you’re moving up.
Choose wisely.
When designing your product, remember to not overload your customers cognitive load.
Pretend every person using your product is saying one thing:
DON’T MAKE ME THINK
When building great products, you must obsess over usability.
Usability defined:
A person of average (or even below average) ability and experience can figure out how to use the thing to accomplish something without it being more trouble than it’s worth.
It’s that simple.
