These “rise above personal gains to build a stronger India” messages to the youth are empty slogans. Like every slogan, they mean nothing except a tool to exploit young people’s emotions and push them to sacrifice themselves for power-hungry leaders.

Nations aren’t built by self-sacrifice. They’re built when enterprising individuals, given full economic and political freedom, innovate, invest, start businesses, create jobs and products, and take risks for profit. That’s when a country actually grows strong.

Self-sacrifice is always a ruse by politicians to exploit the people; they never sacrifice themselves, they only benefit and enrich themselves with other people’s sacrifice.

@ravihanda I spoke to 3 CAs last year, none of them had any clue on how to properly fill schedules FSI, FA, TR, submit form 67 etc. They had a hard time understanding my RSU statement from US investment account. I learnt it myself and doing it on my own since then.

But south TN is punching below their weight. Trichy as admin capital can ensure TN fires on all cylinders and bring all round development.

Many Tamilians get pissed off when I say Trichy would make the best administrative capital, while Madras can remain the commercial capital.

many people argue that location alone is enough to determine the capital of a modern state, but location is only one factor.

Since the government is already looking for land to build a new Secretariat and the Chief Minister has shifted out of Fort St. George, they'll only end up putting more stress on Chennai.

This is a great opportunity to make Trichy the administrative capital. The new capital should be planned like L'Enfant's plan for Washington, D.C., or Lutyens' plan for New Delhi a purpose-built administrative city with grand avenues, civic spaces, and government institutions.

@sumanthraman Obviously. My choice is Tamil, English and Japanese. If CBSE schools can't offer Japanese, stop with 2 languages - no interest in learning a 2nd Indian language!

How would you admit a student in 2026 if he had finished 12th 4 years ago? You need to test his current knowledge.

My primary argument FOR NEET was to remove disparity and have common entry evaluation standards for students from
1. Diff boards of school education. State, CBSE, NIOS, IB, ISC..
2. Diff years of graduation. Ex. 2026 vs 2024 vs 2020

A couple of friends recently asked whether I am pro-NEET or anti-NEET.
My answer: Neither.

Here is my proposed model:

State Government Seats (85%): Filled directly through State Board +2 exam marks. The intense local competition for Government Medical College (GMC) seats itself guarantees student quality - regardless of the specific exam format or evaluation style.

All India Quota & Private Colleges (15%): Filled strictly through NEET by the Central Government. Private colleges will not be allowed to hold independent entrance tests; they must admit solely via NEET with a strict 75th percentile cutoff. If a candidate isn't in the top 25%, they cannot buy a seat anywhere in India :even if private seats go vacant.

Standardized Curriculum: A uniform Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) syllabus across all state and central boards.

Central Boards (CBSE/ICSE): Students in non-state boards can write NEET to compete for the 15% AIQ seats in any state. However, a local domicile preference will apply -for instance, a CBSE student from Chennai would get preference over a CBSE student from Delhi for a seat within Tamil Nadu.

Private Fee Regulation: State-regulated fee caps for private medical institutions (though this operates independently of the exam structure).

In this framework, NEET becomes an opt-in exam.

You only need to write it if you:

• Are from a CBSE / ICSE background
• Are targeting a private medical college
• Want to study outside your home state
• Are a repeater aiming for another attempt

(Note: The 85/15 split is open to debate. State-specific caste reservation quotas remain separate and outside the scope of this model)

This dual-track system ensures equity for everyone. Whether it is Rohit from a top CBSE school in Chennai or Ramesh from a government-aided rural school near Tirunelveli, both have a clear, viable pathway to a GMC seat.

Key Advantages
Compared to the Pre-NEET Era:

1. One Single Entrance Test: Eliminates the chaotic grind of writing 15+ separate college entrance exams; NEET remains the sole entrance test.

2. Uncompromised Merit: NEET becomes the only gateway into private colleges, completely eliminating opaque seat sales and capitation fees.

3. Fairness for Central Boards: CBSE and ICSE students are not left at a disadvantage.

4. Controlled Repeats: Repeat attempts are permitted exclusively through the NEET route -preventing endless "mark improvement" attempts in state board exams.

Compared to the Current NEET Setup:
1. Restores +2 Board Relevance: Gives real academic weight back to school education.

2. Eliminates Universal Coaching Pressure: Removes the mandatory coaching burden for local state board students.

3. Solves Intra-State Board Disparities: Allows multi-board competition inside a state without forced normalization formulas.

4. Protects Educational Federalism: Restores state autonomy over local medical seats while preserving a strong national merit benchmark.

5. Reduces Mental Health Strain: Turns a universal high-stakes filter into a flexible, targeted choice for 17-year-olds.
