You’ll never convince me there’s a good reason to change the name of a product with 100% brand recognition + 300 million monthly active users.
Literally any aspiration Elon has for Twitter is better served by building on the brand, not starting from scratch.
Imagine being a SMM waking up on their first day of PTO to the literal extinction of the iconic bird. 🥲🫣
I’ve always said I’m anticipating the day where I wake up and Twitter is just gone. TBH been tough to watch the changes. Here’s a throw back to me in 2019. #RIPTwitter
Imagine buying Twitter, one of the most recognizable brands in the world—your logo is on nearly every website, product packaging, business card, storefront you can imagine—and you decide to just throw all that away and call it “X.”
This is the New Coke of our generation.
@Codishaa Day 1: laughing - felt like the old Twitter and tumblr days
Day 2: cognitive overload with brand accounts saying we’re on threads + random question
Day 3: noticed I’m only seeing the same accounts and an occasional person
Conclusion: needs discoverability and search capability
@jappleby@timothypeckover@AEO +1 to Jack. When managing a brand account, every reply, like, or reshare is with your audience in mind. I don’t see the relevancy here for AE to have newsjacked this convo. Really opened up a real human to irrelevant backlash. There’s a time and place for brand and personals.
Well, if there's one thing I've learned today it's that Twitter's current system for distributing checkmarks makes finding accurate information during a crisis an absolute nightmare.
Terrified of this Twitter Era. It became overwhelming to find accurate information from trusted sources. I was bombarded with blue check marks and misinformation. Scrolling. Searching. Repeat. Experiencing cognitive overload during crisis and disaster is a risk to public safety.
Twitter in a breaking shooting or disaster is always a minefield, but Twitter without verified local news outlets/reporters, police/fire departments, and politicians is going to be catastrophic
@MattNavarra You’re notified in an urgent request that escalates up the department because you’re the only SMM and are on PTO for your wedding …. and the request was for a small event two weeks away.
@aking_Rapid7 @Edelman11@LiveWorx@aking_PTC If I’ve learned anything over the last several years, working alongside good people, is good work. I miss you too. We should make some magic soon. Or at least catch 🆙 ✨
We want to be clear that we’re creating new options — providing people with more choices so they can decide what works best for them — not switching everyone back to a chronological feed. You can expect more on this early next year!
