Every ultra successful person I’ve met journals, manifests, & visualizes
Survivor bias.
I started this 3 years ago - and it’s completely changed my life. You guys want more content teaching you my process to help you do so?
How to stop procrastinating, in 6 steps:
1. name the feeling
before you avoid a task, ask "what am i trying to escape?"
> if you don't know where to start, define the first step
> if the task feels too big, break it into smaller parts
2. start small
make the first action so easy it's hard to say no to. once you start, keeping going is much easier
3. remove distractions
put your phone in another room, turn off notifications, close extra tabs
make the task the easiest thing to do
4. decide in advance
pick an exact time and how long you'll work, before the moment comes
then there's nothing left to negotiate
5. don't wait for motivation
start even if you're not motivated
6. recover fast
one wasted morning doesn't mean the whole day is gone
start again as soon as you notice, don't wait for tomorrow
full breakdown in the article:
It takes a psychopathic and sociopathic level of dedication to make it out of this system, you cant just want it enough to try when its convenient, if you want to be immense, top 0.0001% you have to push yourself to places that are not human
The sheer intensity of self command, the willingness to become indifferent to distraction, social approval, temporary discomfort and the endless invitations to dilute your own potential, delay gratification, cut costs, focus explicitly on a tiny number of variables for a fixed period of time, to not even entertain the possibility it can be any other way, you have to want it more than anyone else with an obsession that borders on madness, you're adapting whilst they're resting, dude is chilling with his girlfriend cuddling, you are in the trenches scheming more upward mobility, whilst they're complaining your hunting for edges and scanning relentlessly for your next advantage
You have to become extraordinarily selective about what receives access to your mind, your time, your energy and your future. Most people are not defeated by one catastrophic event, they are slowly yet surely disassembled by a thousand small concessions, weak friendships, poor financial decisions, fragmented attention, cheap pleasures, emotional volatility and years spent negotiating with standards they already know they must uphold daily relentlessly
Treat life as an integrated system, protect biology, sharpen judgement, accumulating capital, building competence and refuse to allow temporary emotional states to govern permanent decisions
Even when you're winning you have to be violently honest about where you are slacking and where you are losing momentum, even 30 minutes a day over a year is 182.5 hours, or about 4.5 full time work weeks, you must push harder and you must enjoy the process of knowing you are willing to go further than the next man,I can take more pain than you I can forget my emotions quicker and more repeatedly than you can, my decisions are more objective than yours are, I will outlast you in spirit and action
There is something almost frightening about the individual who can sustain intelligent effort for years without requiring the world to continually reassure him that victory is coming
He is not merely working harder, he is becoming increasingly difficult to interrupt, corrupt, discourage or disorganise repeatedly to turn his spirit, mind and soul into one organised system of task decimation for a broader task of fuliflling the committment he made to himself many nights ago
It sucks to say it, but the default is overweight, dumb, and broke.
You don't live in a world where you have to hunt for your food and figure out how to survive.
You live in a world where - unless you decide to endlessly practice self-education, because schools do not teach you how to live a good life - you will automatically choose hyperpalatable foods, sit on your couch all day, and get the job that pays enough to survive because that's just what you were supposed to do.
Wrote a piece on how to build a system for the discretionary trader.
I get asked this question a TON and have nowhere to direct people.
There is no quick way to do this, but I covered the best way I would approach it for those looking to build an actual career as a trader.
few notes from my 8 years trading only bitcoin
> focusing on one pair gave me an edge
> half size until it moves in my favour, then add
> add when the trade is working
> full size on the open gets you smoked
> cut losers faster than feels comfortable
> use denial mode to turn off pnl
> fees are pnl eliminate where possible
> dedicate 1 day per week for a weekly review
> execution should be boring
> review the biggest moves of the week
> base every decision on expected value
> recognise when your edge is fading
> simple rules > advanced ones you cant follow
> large wicks will usually at least partially fill
> heatmaps are kinda useless
> liquidation spikes help spotting mean reversion
> round numbers act as magnets
> you are most likely better off entering at limit
> you don't need to watch "every venue" **
> don't backtest shit with ai
> remove trading apps off your phone
> keep risk constant early on
> trading is a j-curve business
> time delays can create clarity
> get better at spotting trends vs ranges
> hard targets cap the best trades
> more screens isn't an edge
> drawdowns are part of what makes an edge
> trading via phone ends fucking badly
> know where you're targeting before entering
> set yourself one non pnl goal per day
> sitting on your hands is a trade in itself
> build sample size before you size up
I value longevity in this business, i want to be here for many years to come, that mindset is what shapes my rules and risk tolerance moving forward 🫡
