More bad news for mobile phone users in India (after SIM binding): Our government is mandating a government app (sanchar saathi) on every new phone, permanently, Reuters reports.

Will be pushed to your phone via OTA. New smartphones need to have it. Users cannot delete it. This is a first. India has never before required an unremovable state app on every device. Russia does btw, with its MAX Messenger (started September 2025).

A few comments regarding this:
1. Sanchar Saathi is a lost phone tracker, but if it gets embedded with no possibility of removal, it becomes a government tracker on your device.

IF the government is allowed to get away with this, what’s next? A mandatory digital ID app? Digiyatra forcefully installed on each device? An app that disables VPNs or tracks your app and browser history? An app that sends copies of your messages to the government once a month?

Once the OS layer is opened to the state, it doesn’t close.

2. Legally, one can argue that your mobile phone is your personal space, and this is an invasion of your personal space.

It’s where we have our most private conversations. Exchange sensitive information with people we trust.

How do we know this app isn’t used to access files and messaging on our device, which is unencrypted on device? Or a future update won’t do that? This is clearly an invasion of our privacy.

3. Remember how the government exempt itself from much of the Data Protection Law. This explains why.

The Data Protection Law will make private companies more accountable and the Indian government less accountable.

4. Bloatware is already an issue with some phones (It’s why I don’t use Samsung). Now there’s more, and this time the government is forcing bloatware. I guess we’ll all have to root our phones now. When you buy a phone with bloatware, you're choosing to buy it with bloatware. This is different.

5. The way things work with India’s Department of Telecom, there was no public consultation, the order wasn’t disclosed. Just forced. This is dictatorial in nature. If they get away with this, more will follow.

🚨 Big Update for Anyone Renting a Home in India - The New Rent Agreement Act 2025 Changes EVERYTHING.

If you’re a tenant or a landlord, these rules will impact your daily life:

• Your rent agreement must be online + digitally stamped, and filed within 60 days. No more vague paper contracts.
• Security deposit capped - max 2 months’ rent for homes, 6 months for commercial spaces.
• Rent hike only after 12 months, and only with a 90-day written notice.
• If you complain about major repairs, the landlord must fix them within 30 days, else you can adjust the cost from rent.
• Landlords can’t just “drop in” - 24-hr written notice is mandatory.
• Eviction needs a legal order from the Rent Tribunal - no forced eviction, no cutting water/electricity, no threats.
• Police verification is compulsory before a tenant moves in.
• Disputes and eviction cases must be resolved within 60 days by the Tribunal.

In simple words:
This Act brings transparency for landlords, safety for tenants, and finally puts an end to India’s “verbal rental agreements era.”

If you rent or plan to rent in 2025 - this is the update you cannot afford to miss. 🏠✨

#BREAKING: India announces strong statement against Pakistan with immediate diplomatic measures for Pahalgam Terror Attack.

1. Indus Water Treaty stands in abeyance. India is no longer participant or bound by the treaty now.

2. Wagah-Attari Border has been closed with immediate effect.

3. Any SAARC Visa issued to Pakistani nationals has been annulled. They can leave India by May 1st.

4. Three Pakistani Military Attachedin Pakistan High Commission asked to leave. Declared them Persona Non-Grata. India withdrawing our own three Military Attaches in Indian High Commission in Pakistan. Five support staff also withdrawn/removed. Families of Military Attaches to also return.

5. India has reduced Pakistan High Commission’s strength to 30 from 55. Indian High Commission in Islamabad will also maintain 30 strength.

@TheOfficialSBI Not sure why bank deduct unnecessary charges on the name of bounced charges! Not acceptable from such reputed bank to deduct charges without no reason and when calling CC they asked me to confirm this from branch??? #disappointedme
