The stated logic for radical reform has some merit. Yet many suspect that Field Marshal Munir’s plan is more about cutting Pakistan’s political parties down to size https://t.co/EtxSfWRUwR
Everyone protesting in Pakistan should be able to do so safely and without fear. I stand with all those fighting for human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Pakistan.
The right to peacefully protest and make your voice heard is fundamental to any democracy.
The people of Pakistan deserve to have their basic freedoms, human rights, and democratic will respected. America will always stand for freedom, democracy, and the fundamental rights of people everywhere.
Thousands of Pakistanis are marching to demand the release of political prisoners, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
I stand with the Pakistani-American community advocating for human rights, free and fair elections, and the right to protest peacefully in Pakistan.

🚨 Secretary General of the UN @antonioguterres Please MEET IMRAN KHAN whilst you are in Pakistan. If not you, then who?
In March 2024, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s detention arbitrary and called for his immediate release.
In October 2024, the UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers raised concerns over the 26th Constitutional Amendment and its implications for judicial independence and fair trials.
In March 2025 that same UN mandate intervened in the conviction of more than 100 civilians in military courts after the May 9th 2023 political protests in Pakistan.
In November 2025, the UN raised further serious concerns over the 27th Constitutional Amendment and again impact on judicial independence, human rights and fair trials.
Then, in December 2025 the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture intervened specifically in the case of Imran Khan regarding the period of his solitary confinement and detention conditions falling below international standards of humane and dignified treatment.
In May 2026, the UN Committee Against Torture specifically named Imran Khan and his wife and called on Pakistan to review the situation of people detained on political grounds and for their urgent medical care.
Secretary General, respectfully these are not our findings. These are the findings and concerns of your own United Nations. Please act on your findings immediately. Imran Khan's life is in imminent danger. If not you, then who?
He scored 3807 runs and took 362 wickets in Test cricket!
3709 runs and 182 ODI wickets and was Pakistan's 1992 World Cup winning captain 👏
Happy birthday Imran Khan!
Happy Birthday to the greatest Pakistani cricketer of all time- and probably the most globally known Pakistani of these times. Terrible to see how he’s being treated… may better sense prevail!
Pakistan's finest cricketer and one of the game's all-round greats, he led the country to World Cup glory in 1992 🏆
The legendary Imran Khan turns 74 today
"I'm not a politician. But just to see the way he's (Imran) being treated today is shocking. You know, no one treats a human being like that. On humanitarian grounds, I don't think he deserves what he's getting," @RaviShastriOfc said.

Trump must tell Asim Munir to respect peaceful protest, free all political prisoners including Imran Khan, and finally allow free and fair elections
"We only want one thing: the release of our Imran Khan."
Thousands of Imran Khan's supporters are marching to Islamabad to demand the former prime minister's release. The march started on Sunday in Lakki Marwat, 170 miles from the capital city and continued into Monday.
Originally planned for last week, the march was pushed back to allow for negotiations between the government and Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. But those talks ended in a deadlock, and the march went ahead Sunday.
Concerns over the 74-year-old Khan's health have grown in recent months. According to his family, he has lost most of his eyesight in his right eye after neglect from prison officials.
Right now, there are thousands of brave people in Pakistan demanding the release of political prisoners, including Imran Khan.
I stand with the Pakistani-American community advocating for human rights in Pakistan, free and fair elections, and the right to protest peacefully.
Democracy only works when people can raise their voices in the streets, and at the ballot box, without fear of reprisal.
The people of Pakistan deserve free and fair elections, and I'm proud to stand with them!
Free Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
They’ve been held in inhumane conditions without medical attention, and both have reported significant eye damage. No one should be treated this way.
I stand with the thousands of protestors marching in Pakistan demanding their release. The people of Pakistan deserve free and fair elections.
Supporters of Pakistan’s ex-PM Imran Khan march to the country’s capital of Islamabad to call for his release from jail.
Khan was jailed back in 2023 over corruption charges, though he denies these and claims to be a political prisoner.
Thousands of supporters of Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan have begun a multi-day march toward Islamabad demanding his release from prison. The protest is being led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi after negotiations between the government and PTI failed to resolve the political standoff.
The march began from Lakki Marwat, with the convoy later entering Karak district as supporters continued along the planned route. Authorities have tightened security ahead of the march’s expected movement toward the capital.
