@PettyClegg AND in a pandemic, they're risking their health by even showing up to work. Restaurants have been hit hard by covid, and the employees probably don't have paid sick days or healthcare through their employer when they do get sick.
@PettyClegg @justsheavassar It's not just handing you a bag. They're making sure they put the right boxes in the bag, they're making sure you get little individual cups of ketchup (that they portioned earlier), they're making sure you get your side of ranch. They're running it out to your car for curbside.
@PettyClegg Exactly, restaurants are notorious for trying to cut labor costs so it's pretty likely the server or to-go person is not getting a living wage from their employer. If you can spend $15 on a burger, you can spare a couple dollars for a tip.
@whereyouleftmir Like when I first heard the song I pictured it like a thousand paper cuts all over, painful. But now it's cutting apart every single part of her body until she completely bleeds out and it's even more haunting.
@whereyouleftmir https://t.co/j3leIg28Rj I only just recently discovered that there was actually an ancient form of torture that was "death by a thousand cuts"
@allybamaw@justin_halpern As a new server, I had someone ask for a "whiskey and water" so I brought a whiskey and a glass of ice water, and he had to clarify that he didn't want that - he wanted a whiskey and water. I'm curious if that woman ever had a server think "white wine and water" was similar ๐
@jkhuggins @HeatherTDay As a student I appreciated the chance to be able to occasionally eat a sandwich in class on busy days but then one semester I watched a girl routinely bring an entire tray of food from the cafeteria into our philosophy class and I understood why some profs had a "no food" rule.

@pholanthropist I was embarrassed to have Payless shoes or Goodwill clothes when I was a teenager. Now as an adult I appreciate thrifting and wish Payless was still around.
@endofanerajc I'm just a stranger from Twitter but still donated just because I know how awful mental health struggles can be. I feel like some people genuinely do not understand. Anyways I hope that you keep pushing through and get better days ahead.
This is Maggie. Playing in the snow was her favorite thing in the world, and she got to do it one final time thanks to @SLCOParksandRec. Their staff shaved extra ice, loaded it into bins, and gave it to her family, making Maggieโs last day very very special. 14/10 for all โค๏ธ
@eeberquist Honestly this is better than the whole "Wow you're so tall! How tall are you? Did you play basketball?" like I dont need to have a whole conversation about it with a stranger ๐
