I used to think card failure was just one of those annoying adult problems.

Embarrassing, yes. Inconvenient, definitely. But survivable.

Then one night changed that.

I was stranded at an airport in Enugu with barely any cash left on me.

My phone battery was dead. It was raining outside. And I had already been declined twice trying to pay for a hotel room.

That was the moment the whole idea of “payments” stopped feeling abstract.
