@michaelshermer@JMGreerWriter Agree, that doesn't truly work. But it's likely those doing it have learned where water is more likely to be (knowing where other water found, where water sources are, topology, type of soil, etc).
@mcuban Can anyone give a good reason for using so much water? Evaporative cooling seems like the most wasteful possible method. It's only "cheap" because water is being given away cheap or free.
@jonkay 10,000s of graves of children, marked and unmarked, individual, and mass graves in Gaza are known. Thousands of kids in residential schools died as a result of policy; even though GPR was bullshit, and graves weren't unmarked; where they were buried doesn't change the evilness.
@michaelshermer More people leaving cars unlocked encourages car theft. But, more people resisting authoritarianism discourages authoritarianism. The individual activist is endangered resisting, but makes it safer for everyone else. When nobody dares resist, we're all endangered.
@sharrond62 If you join the military and fail to serve, you are subject to military trial and prison for the crime of desertion. Do you want to do that to doctors?
Just when it seems there are no words left to describe the living hell in Gaza, a new one has been added: “famine”.
This is not a mystery — it is a man-made disaster, a moral indictment and a failure of humanity itself. Famine is not only about food; it is the deliberate collapse of the systems needed for human survival. People are starving. Children are dying. And those with the duty to act are failing. As the occupying power, Israel has unequivocal obligations under international law — including the duty of ensuring food and medical supplies of the population. We cannot allow this situation to continue with impunity.
No more excuses. The time for action is not tomorrow — it is now. We need an immediate ceasefire, the immediate release of all hostages and full, unfettered humanitarian access.
Israel's leaders (public statements), soldiers (social media), and citizens (polls) have openly admitted to committing genocide in almost every way possible except for using the literal word. If you trust Israel, you can trust it is guilty of genocide. #GazaGenocide
@michaelshermer The same logic said that if PLO in Lebanon in 1982 withdrew, Israel wouldn't harm Palestinians. PLO withdrew, then the Sabra and Shatila massacre happened under the direction of Israel.
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.
@michaelshermer Pointing out "I" is a pronoun isn't meant to prove your wrong about everything. It's not"lying". But if you want to argue for better use of language, then you should do so yourself.
@michaelshermer A true skeptic would see this as a great opportunity for some experiments to see how likely such results are. Relying on our gut assumptions is a waste of time.
