Affiliated with Americans for Tax Reform, the Tholos Foundation conducts research and education on effective public policy from a free-market perspective.
Affiliated with @taxreformer, Tholos is a 501(c)3 educational foundation originally founded in 1985 at the request of President Reagan. You can learn more about Tholos on our website (or by reading this thread). https://t.co/bL3sac1dB4
The Tholos Foundation has signed a coalition letter alongside 18 organizations urging Treasury @SecScottBessent and US Trade Representative @jamiesongreer to take decisive and immediate action to eliminate discriminatory foreign Digital Services Taxes (DSTs) 👇
Digital Services Taxes are instruments of economic nationalism designed to raid American innovation because American companies cannot vote in foreign elections.
The US must act with full force to defend American enterprise from this brazen assault on our economic sovereignty.
It’s not your job to “find” the UK’s first trilion-dollar firm.
If you want businesses to succeed in Britain, perhaps start by taxing less and removing the red tape that makes the business environment so hostile.
📱 "This amounts to surveillance technology on every device in the country."
@matthewlesh warns the government's proposed device controls are a civil liberties disaster in disguise. 👇
“For many years we've been focusing our arguments on public health and consumer choice, where the argument is clearly on our side.
The evidence is so overwhelming that these products have the capacity to save hundreds of millions of lives across the world. This should be a policy no-brainer, and yet we see governments after governments after governments banning these products. It was a very depressing realization for me.”

Today is Tax Freedom Day!
Up until June 5th, every penny the average Brit earned went straight to the taxman. From today (June 6th), you are finally earning for yourself!
Under our improved methodology, this is the latest Tax Freedom Day ever recorded. 👇
“In Australia, in Brazil, in the Netherlands, in Germany, everywhere prohibition has been tried it has led to failure.”
- PDNW lead spokesman @Tim_Andrews at #GFN26
In Brazil almost 3 million people still vape despite it being illegal, including 8.7% of Brazilian teens.
Why? Because illicit markets do not check ID. They do not enforce age verification, follow safety standards, or provide any of the checks and balances that exist in a properly regulated market.
PDNW lead spokesman @Tim_Andrews explains how our campaign uses the evidence to show this is not just a public health argument, there is an economic cost as well:
“A proper regulated market will lead to better public health and public safety, because prohibition doesn't eliminate demand. It simply shifts it to the black market.”

Michael Ellis explains why Prohibition Does Not Work at #GFN26 👇
Prohibition does not affect demand. It affects who supplies it.
Banning safer products pushes consumers towards black markets where criminals control quality, safety and access.

“Black markets for e-cigarettes are not victimless. Illicit economies fuel corruption, violence, chaos, and organised crime, and the profits generated by illicit trade often finance a much wider range of criminal activity.”
